My husband and I started the immigration process last year. He is now here on a K-1 visa and we were married last week. We used a lawyer for the Visa process but due to finances are considering doing the AOS and Greencard part on our own. Just curious from those who have done it already... how hard was the process? is the guide that VJ shows accurate? Need help as we want to start this ASAP! Thanks all!!

Process isn't hard.

Yes - the guides are complete and if followed, should lead you to success.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

If your up for a lot of reading on here you will be fine. In all honesty we used this site through out this whole process (K1 to the AOS) and it has been invaluable and easy as long as you follow the guidelines. Then the folks on here are full of information a lot of these attorneys don't have. I am not the sharpest crayon box but we have managed very well with out paying any attorneys by using this site. Wish ya the best of luck!

We used a lawyer for the k-1,total waste of money..we decided to do the AOS on our own..not difficult at all,save your money and follow the guides on here....

AOSd on our own, VERY easy, followed the guides. No RFEs no problems.

I suggest you print the guides out and read them and use the list for whats needed in the packet. We crossed them off as we collected things, it helped.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I used visajourney for the process and I do not have any problems..plus, people in this forum are so helpful it is great!!

before I started AOS I went to a lawyer and I paid for a flat consultation .turned out I paid $75.00 per 1 hour in order to realize I can do the process by myself with this helpful website.
