Hello everybody! We got our NOA2 by email yesterday and now I was wondering how we can check if the case is at the NVC. I read they give you a different case number. Is that number included in the NOA2 (hardcopy)? Or do we have to call NVC and ask for it?

Wait about a week then start calling the NVC. You will need to give them your USCIS # that you got on your NOA1. Also email them, sometimes the person on the phone doesn't give you squat but the same day you get an email reply with the requested information.

They will give you your new case # which you will use from now on. Soon after, if it isnt put in AP, they will ship it to the embassy/consulate.

1)the NOA is the notice of action, after you send in your paperwork they mail you a letter that says they received it and they give you a case number, EAC- Vermont service center , WAC- California service center (they are at the beginning of your number) so you need to edit your timeline to show the service center

2) then when you are approved your receive your NOA2 which is a notice of approval and after that the case is sent to NVC where it is given a different case number, maybe put in AP and then sent to the embassy

you have possibly a 6 month wait before you are approved and then sent to NVC

I don't understand. If your case number starts with WAC, then it means your case is at the California Service Center. Why are you so sure it's at the VSC? Was your case transferred for some reason? Also, if your case is at the CSC you might get NOA2 a few weeks before or after 5 months because they are working fast. If instead it is at the VSC, then it might take 6 or over 6 months...unless things change and they start processing petitions faster.

yes i am sure that my case number starts with WAC, but you are right, i think it was transferred, coz my fiance had crime story in his past, but you don't think please he is bad person, he is really good and can to have second chanse. that's why our case is so late, we sent our case last february and its status is now RFE. i hope they won'r deny it, i am nervous about a lot. thank you for replay.

The new case number is NOT on the NOA2. You must call NVC or contact the embassy to receive this new number. Mine begins with LGS (Lagos)....... you get the idea.
