Hi everyone I'm American and filing for my Brazilian husband. We finally got our interview date by email and it says to follow the instructions on the embassy website. The part that confuses me is this :

"Please send all of the completed DS-230 Parts I and II along with the completed DS-2001 form, copy of the page of your passport that has your personal information and one frontal picture, to the address listed on the cover letter of this information packet.

Note: Form 230 Part II must be signed before the Consul on the day of the interview. Do not sign this form.

This Unit will contact you with your immigrant visa interview date after receiving your DS-230 form."

I'm confused because I have received my interview date through email so is it still necessary to send these forms through the mail or can I just bring them with me on the day of the interview along with all the other forms? I'm thinking maybe this part is out of date, but I don't know. Also I have not received anything in the mail, should I be expecting a packet? I appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

Your situation is different than mine, but let me just say that I have had to contact the consulate before with questions and they were fairly quick to respond (within 2 business days) and answered my questions quite nicely. Maybe that is an alternative for you to get the answers directly from them. ? I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the advice. I did write to them and they wrote back this : "You must bring all documents at the day of the interview." SO I'm assuming that means I don't have to send anything ahead of time right? OMG this stuff is so nerve racking!!! Hows your process coming along? take care! :)

Thanks so much TY & Nanda !!! :D I feel so relieved now...thank you for offering help I really appreciate that, when doing this process sometimes you can feel so alone...I haven't filled out any forms yet because 1st we are getting all the police records, medical exams and all that stuff done and out of the way...I still have 2 months until my interview, but I wanna have everything done in April, Once I start the forms I'm sure I'll have questions lol...good luck with your interview!! Are you here in Brazil?

Hi Lovenena... my wife had a similar situation for her inteview, and she took those forms with her to the interview and had no problems at all.

Best of luck to you.

Never Give Up.

Thank you MarcoGomes that helps me a lot!!!! :)

Hi Everyone, this is my first post, so I'm not even sure I'm doing it right... I'm filing for my husband, who is Brazilian. I'm trying to get the best estimate possible for the wait time between when I submit my packet 3 to the NVC and the interview appointment. I emailed the consulate and they said it typically takes 1-2 months, but my lawyer was skeptical it would be so quick. What are others' experiences? I want to make sure we have plenty of time to gather paperwork before the interview. Also, I assume there is time between packet 3 submission and the Rio Consulate making the appointment, which I also want to take into account. Maybe this info is elsewhere on this site and I don't know about it??

Thanks!

Wendy
