Just wondering if there is any down side to frequent visits to see your SO in another country. I may get 3-4 visits in this year alone before we start the visa process. I would think it would only help our case, but I'm also wondering if someone somewhere might find it excessive especially given that my SO is in Egypt... Is this anything to be concerned about at all?

Thanks for any input!

I wouldn't think so - in fact, I would say it would be a plus.

(your not doing it on a spur of the moment thing)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I think it helps. I did six visits to the Philippines, and the interviewere mentioned that I must be serious. Lol, actually I was going empty handed and bringing back suitcases of her clothes.

I got a little bit hassled upon my reentry into the US once. Perhaps my trips to Morocco by myself were suspicious. After another trip I saw the same agent, but did not have to interact with him, and he seemed to be "tougher" than the other officers, so maybe it was just his personality and had nothing to do with repeated travel to a predominantly Muslim country. Just throwing that out there as the only downside I can see. Otherwise, hey, if you can afford it and have the time off work, I'd say do it!!!! Probably the majority of the people in the world wish they could travel but don't have the time, finances, freedom, or health to make it happen.

If your a USC, then you should have no problem you can have multiple visit as you please - as long as the other country is not having any issue with it.

Yea the POE might question you if you are having too many trips back and forth from certain countries - thats given the dynamics of the security situation that we have.

If you exaplain to POE you have a potential siginificant and your are visiting to make sure you end up with right person, then I don't think they would have much of a problem.

Many visits means that you have a relationship so certainly it helps a lot, Good Luck with your journey

I think the more visits you get the better off you would be. And your lucky that you are able to see your SO so much. The only drawback i can think of. is if you have children. But if you don't then nothing to worry about.

The children part, there concern might be when do you spend time with them. And since i am just getting back into VJ I have lost track of a lot of the ppl on here and there families and relationships.

Because it's such an easy trip from my part of the US, I was able to make 7 trips to Colombia in the year before our K-1 interview. I think it helped at the interview because I was asked how many times I had visited her in Colombia (and really nothing else other than how we met. She was asked nothing!)

I was asked about my trips when I returned to the US a little more during the latter trips but nothing serious. Just a couple of (semi-serious) wisecracks by the CBP agent about my passport running out of pages.

I think it can only help with the visa process.

I was also questioned about my time in Morocco. When I responded that my husband lived in Morocco, the officer assumed my husband was in the US military stationed in Morocco!

When he finally understood I was married to a Moroccan he asked a lot of questions but nothing ridiculous or worth not making any more trips, etc.

And, out of the multiple times I was there, that was the only time I was ever questioned on my way back into the US.

I attended the interview with my fiance and it was my 3rd trip there in 9 mths. I think it actually helped us. She did ask how many times I had visited and I think was a little surprised by not only how many visits, but by the length of the visits too. I also have children at home, and the only thing I was asked was if they had ever been with me to Egypt, I was honest and said no, basically because every time that I have come it has been during school and I have stayed for long periods of time and I didn't think it was a good idea to bring them with me on my first visit. I'm planning my 4th trip in a couple of weeks, like you I'm very lucky and fortunate to be able to go visit him as often as I can. Good luck!!

I have 2 older teenagers who stay with their father for the 2-week spans when I am out of the country. I think it's good for their relationships with their father and hope it won't be seen as neglectful on my part. The rest of my time is spent with them when they're not at school.

I haven't been hassled yet at PoE, I hope that it doesn't happen. I guess I will deal with it if it does, though. I guess it's not really a situation most people would understand.

I almost had a slight problem last time entering Egypt. I didn't have any issues until after I got my luggage, then as I was walking to leave the airport the guy checked my passport and started asking me a bunch of questions on why I was there, and if I lived there and what I was bringing with me. I'm not sure if all the visa stamps so close together was an issue.

This is the only downside I think too.. I had this happen in Frankfurt and in the US. In Frankfurt they even asked me about trips on a past passport, so it can take a while. :)

But otherwise, no downsides as far as I know. Go for it!!

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
