Interview Date Scheduling

Hi VJ'ers,

I've been reading quite a lot here and have become a little confused. It appears that most people are scheduling their interview appointments online (or by phone)...themselves. I thought NVC was the one to set this! My IR1/CR1 has just made it through the NVC. We got our case complete on March 28...confirmed by SIF and updated message on AVR.

Now I'm a little confused where I'm at in the process. Do I start calling the U.S. embassy in Manila to schedule an interview, or do I wait for the NVC to contact me with the interview date?

I have thought all along that after we got our case complete, the NVC would email me and my wife the interveiw date. Is this still correct. We have received no such email yet.

I've read so many different things here and it seems like there are many different processes. Perhaps that's because there are different processes for different visa categories? Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed a little light.

James

Yes it depends on the visa categories. K visa technically falls under non-immigrant visa so the interview scheduling is done by the petitioner/applicant or their spouses/fiance(e). Immigrant visa such as yours are done by the NVC.

...except on expedited immigrant visa applications wherein the NVC will forward ASAP the case to the respective consulate and it's the responsibility of the petitioner/beneficiary to coordinate with the consulate in setting the interview date.
