So, Darwin was wrong?

How? A lot of people seem very confused on what evolution actually is and how it works. There is no genetic material that correlates with man-made concepts like 'hard work'.

Ouch!

Obviously your experience with man and animal is limited.

By socializing, I agree.

Genetically? Would you care to name the gene(s) responsible for hard drive and the genetic laws applicable? Is it dominant or recessive? How many genes is it encoded in? And mutations in those genes, do they produce some lazy-#### welfare recepients who therefore should really be on disability instead?

"Drive" is very much passed on, both in genetics and by socializing.

On the face of it, it seems rather silly to suppose you inherit everything physically from your parents, so much so that your parents medical records are of great important to your doctor (both mental and physical ) .... yet you say,

not aspect of your mental faculties are inheritable.

You might be right, but I doubt it.

Read it again, I did not say that you can't and do no inherit physical characteristics genetically, I quite definitely said that you can't inherit something that only exists as a man made construct. Hence being lazy or industrious are not inheritable. Perhaps if you tried to keep things simple you might understand things better?

So, behavior is all learned?

What has that got to do with what I said? There are no such genetic traits as lazy or industrious. Lazy and industrious are adjectives which describe a man made concept. Blue eyes can be inherited, specific skeletal features can be inherited, metabolic rate can be inherited and some of these inherited characteristics can be altered by specific behaviours. Why is this so hard to understand?

No, behavior is not all learned.

Some of behavior is learned, some has genetic background, some is a result of disease, sometimes a genetically inheritable disease.

Hard work, in particular, is likelier to be a result of environment than anything else.

As exception, some people may be genetically inclined to sleep more and have less energy. Does it make them lazy or less hard working? One might argue that since work is harder for them, they are actually "working harder", just achieving less than someone average due to their handicap.

So, behavior is all learned?
