How will apply for an ITIN # affect me (an NRA)?

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate any advice.

My fiance and I have NOT YET begun our application for IR1/CR1 visa; however I do have a USA bank account in whch I'm currently saving due to the frequent travels back and forth. My question is will applying for an ITIN number as a NRA for tax purposes affect me when I am ready to begin that process Jan 2012?

Our Timeline:-

10Dec10: Met online and began communicating

27Jan11: Dee to USA (our 1st visit). Became Official as a couple.

19Feb11: Dee to USA (Mike's Vday surprise gift)

14Mar11: Mike to Cayman (surprise visit)

21Apr11: Dee to USA

19May11: Mike to Cayman

20May11: MARRIED!!

First off you said fiance but say you are applying for CR1 which is it? Are you married or fiance?

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

no, having an ITIN will not affect the I-130 petition or subsequent CR-1 visa application.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

@ Barbara...we're planning on getting married first before and going the route of the CR1.
