Marrying off your underagers...

You and Veiled Princess, eh?

I never said I married an underager, just that I don't see any problem doing so

if the age difference is < 10 years. 17, 27 - same thing.

Not you, your hypothetical 17-year-old.

I wouldn't want any of my theoretical future children marrying someone immature enough to be on the level of an 18-year-old at 27.

But I think the guys who marry 17-year-old filipinas are in it BECAUSE they're like children. Which is what sickens me.

27 and 17 -- what's the big deal? Both are young and have similar interests.

Now 47 and 17.... that would be a different story.

why? there are a few here with similar age spreads or 20, 30+ yrs

It's difficult to relate to someone who is 30 younger than you.

17: just graduated from high school, not yet attended a university or college,

not sure what they want to do yet, want to explore and try different things,

travel around the world, etc etc

47: none of the above

Meh.. never really interacted with the ones here on VJ together so I can say with absolute certainty that I do not know if they relate well or not accordig to public opinion.

My uncle remarried a PI woman much younger, they were very happy until his death. I know of others though in similar arrangments that didnt even last 3 yrs. So I guess it would depend on the person.

and not every place has the minor age set at 18yrs or 21yrs as here in the states for certain things such as drinking age and marriage... so how can you honestly compare apples to grapes in such situations..?

as already posted, he can't marry the 17 year old..........must be 18 to marry.

Because the 17-year-old filipinas are like children or because the guys who marry them are like children?

I think the latter applies more than the former.

They like the women for looking like little girls/boys and for that they are rather immature.

I guess they're looking for a very traditional dominating-male marriage set-up, I guess. Apparently they want to be Daddy.

Traditional is a good word. The "tradition" may be dead here but it's very much alive in

third-world countries where women are expected to "know their place" and expect to be

dominated. This doesn't necessarily mean they are unhappy -- traditional male-dominated

marriage set-ups are not synonymous with abuse and often are strong and successful. If

anything, these women are probably more likely to be abused by someone from their own

country than by their American husbands in the United States.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
