I saw this on CFL a few minutes ago. Some of the posters there think this is the "I'm stuck in the UK" email scam that has been going around in recent years. One of the CFL posters is going to contact one of his associates to find out what's happening.

I read your link and the scam often asks for Western Union transfers.

Unfortunately, the scammers are able to hack legitimate email addresses somehow and send these emails which make them look legitimate.

It's just a scam. Here's another email also "stuck in Scotland" with slightly different wording. Be aware and do not send money if you don't want to be the next victim. Always check it out with Ellis himself or his family first if you wanna help.

======================================

Hi,

How are you doing? I hope all is well with you and your family. I know this might be a surprise to you but I'm writing this email to you in an hurry and in a confused state of mind. I want to say I'm really sorry that I didn't inform you about my traveling to Scotland for a Seminar. It was something urgent and i didn't even inform anyone about this traveling. But I just got myself in serious mess here now. I got my wallet misplaced on my way to the hotel I'm supposed to lodge in. My money,phone, cards,diary, my return ticket and other vital documents are all in the wallet. I'm so confused right now as I have lost all contacts. I can't even book an hotel with the balance on me.

In fact I'm stranded and perplexed. I need to get out of this mess. I have just managed to use the remaining fund on me to get airtime to an internet cafe where I'm right now sending you this email so that you can help me out with any amount you could afford. I can then book an hotel to lodge in and wait for three days to see if the police will be able to recover my Wallet and if nothing comes out then I will have to book for my flight and leave immediately. Please I need $2,500US dollar to sort myself out here and to pay for the hotel bills but I will appreciate any amount you could afford. I will pay you back as soon as I get back home. I will be waiting in the business center Cafe to read your response because this is the only way I could communicate with you now. Please I will gladly appreciate your assistance and concern urgently. Let me know if you will be able to help me with any amount. You can send the money to me at any Western union money transfer outlet with my name below so that I can get the money immediately.

Name : Stavros Georgopoulos

Address: 80 High Street,The Royal Mile,EH1 1TH,Edinburgh,United Kingdom.

As soon as you make the payment, just send me the Money Transfer Control Number [MTCN, 10digits number] and the sender name from the western union receipt issued to you from the western union outlet. Please get back to me as soon as you can.

With best regards,

Stavros Georgopoulos

100% scam, and even if it wasnt, do you think he would send us any money to help us out? I am sorry, but I would not help him out even if it was real, he was not professional to me or my wife when we sought his services so as far as I am concerned he can deal with his own problems.

I also got the message from Marc's gmail to ask for money as well. Then, I got another message from other email with contrast content.

Marc Ellis told me that his gmail account was hacked. Please don't send any money as the letter required.

Marc Ellis is an attorney; he will know the way how to get out of the difficult situation if any in real life.
