Work Visa's for nurses from PI to USA are on retrogression. Which means there is about a 7 years wait the last time I checked.

There are a few selected hospitals, Usually along border Town that are doing direct hire, but from what I understand it is very difficult to get hired thru them, since there is very limited hiring.

The days of getting a work visa from PI (or other countries) are long gone.

I suggest she work at a hospital in PI, Probably will have to work for 6 months for free until they hire her (if they hire her). Then apply to Canada or Saudi Arabi...

In Philippines they have an over abundance of nurses right now, cuz for the last few years the nursing shcools have been poping up all over the place.

Nurses make about $4 per day in PI, You make more money working as sales clerk in the mall......

I believe they offer the NCLEX in Philippines, Manila.

Google Pearson VUE, they are the one's who administer NCLEX. She will have to apply to state in USA and get a ATT (Authrization To Test) from that state and she can take the NCLEX, it's a computer test.

Most states will want her to have a Social Security Number before they will actually issue the license. You will have to research and see what states will issue a license with out a Social Security Number.

IF she lives in Philippines it will be very difficult for her to get a Tourist Visa or Student Visa to USA.

Here is the link for Pearson VUE

They do offer testing center in Manila. I would assume it's like USA. Once you get your ATT, the testing center is opened like 6 days per week and she just picks a day to take the test.

It computer generated test and it can be anywhere between 75 question and 300 questions or so, depends on how good you are doing on the test. Many only have to answer 75 questions and the machine turns off and they pass, YOu can get quick results back in most states in like 36 hours.

Can use the pearsonvue trick and usually find out unofficially in hours.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I thought NCLEX was only of use in the US, and has a limited validity unless you do use it.

So what would be the point?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I must say that TCO has a point. Its indeed hell of a wait just to get a visa even just taking a test. Its like applying for tourist visa in terms of sufficing the proper proofs of ties going back home.

I have a cousin who didn't have to go to the US to take NCLEX. She went and take the NCLEX in the Marianas Island since its US territory. How she was able to do it? I have no idea. So you might want to google it.
