This is what I found at the US Embassy website, From what I see the K Visa's do pay at time of the interview..Read to see your take on it...

List of Fees for Selected Consular Services

Beginning December 15, 2010, nonimmigrant visa applicants will be required to pay the Machine Readable Visa (MRV) application fee at the CIB Bank prior to scheduling their interview appointments with Vodafone. The Vodafone call center will require all applicants to provide the MRV payment receipt number from CIB Bank before scheduling an appointment.

Below is a list of fees for selected consular services. As of June 4, 2010 the new Nonimmigrant visa fee for petition based cases will be 150 USD. The new Nonimmigrant visa fee for non-petition based cases will be 140 USD. For more information please click here.

The prices for American Citizen Services listed below are new, coming into effect July 13, 2010. For more information click here.

All applicants (excluding treaty investor and fiancée visas) will pay 140 USD at participating CIB branches. All petition based cases should be prepared to pay an additional 10 USD during the time of their interview.

All applicants applying for treaty investor visas (E2) and fiancée visas (K) should pay the entire fee at the Embassy during the time of their interviews.

As of July 7, 2010, the US Embassy exchange rate is L. E. 5.65 per 1.00 USD. This rate is subject to change without notice. Credit cards are currently accepted for payment.

The five credit cards accepted are those with a logo for Visa, Master Card, American Express, Diners Club or Discover.

Fee is $350

So bottom line... the fee is $350 dollars that is what they ask for and you can pay when you go to the US embassy in Cairo so no problem there. You do not have to worry about the $131 they just updated their instruction so $350 is the only money you pay once packet four comes in then pay for the interview.

Yes the fee is $350 but it is not an interview fee. it is the visa application fee. (A fee for processing a visa application, which includes more services than the interview.)

I just talked to my fiancee last night. After I made my lawyer fill out all the paperwork on the computer, so it is easier to be read. My fiancee talked to me yesterday, and told me that a girl told her that someone from the embassy told her you can't fill out the forms we sent you on the computer. It has to be filled out using handwriting.

Is that true? Anybody heard of something similar?

Kim, and Dahlia, do you know?

my fiancee is doing his own so he will know what to say when the time comes for the interview. If you have to do it yourself and send it to her their is another line that you have to sign who is the preparer and dated before you send it to her. NO it did not say that he has to fill in by himself written in a pen. It just says to answer all questions on the form. Just do the best you can. I have never heard that before. She may need your help answering some of the questions. Just meet her YM and try to give her the information unless you want to do it yourself and just sign and dated that you prepare the paperwork for her......

I actually helped my fiance complete all his forms on the computer and he had no problems at all, I've never heard of it needing to be hand written before.

Hello, I received an email response from the US Embassy about paying the K1 Visa Application Fee's. The phone call Hany made to them was different from the email response but at least we now know we must pay at CIB.

Subject: Inquiring about visa fee's

Hello, K1 Visa, I see the Visa Application Fee is now $350.00. My question is "Do I pay this fee at the time of the interview"? (OR) "Do I pay a percentage of it at The Commercial International Bank"? And if it is paid at the CIB how much do I pay there?

Thank You So Much for Your Time, Kim

Please note that you will need to pay an amount of 150 US Dollars at the CIB bank and an amount of 200 US Dollars at our office at the time of the interview.

Regards,Consular Section US Embassy Cairo ES
