I emailed them last night but I dont know if emailing is the best way... maybe calling is better..

Once it's been over six months since filing a Congressperson can help. To do so, you'll probably need to actually sign something allowing their applicable assistant to contact USCIS in your behalf.

Go to your congresspersons website. Usually they tell you how to contact them and sometimes they have a form you need to fill out that allows them to inquire in your name. I had to write a letter to state this.

But it did help me with my AOS process. It really depends though, what the problem is I think...

Correct. I would just add that unless you have a direct connection, contacting the nearest local office of the Senior US Senator from your State is usually the best option among all your Congressional choices.

I don't want to disappoint u, I totally recommend to do it but:

We first contacted congressman office when we reached 5 months mark. They inquired for us and they were told that we were within the average processing time so call in 30 days. When we reached 6 months we contacted again the congress office (btw they are nice people and apparently want to help) . They get back to us and said they placed a service request and we will here within a week. The week passed and we contacted again te congress office (sounds familiar now , right ?) and they get back to us again and they said we will here latest at the end of the week. Now this id "the week" , as u may see we are here ... 6 1/2 months ....

Good luck ! I hope u will have better feed-back .

Haha, I have the same experience as two of you above. I started contacting my representatives (both senators and a congressman) the week of my five month mark. I mainly got the same responses as the USCIS hotline, them telling me to wait another 30 days, call back in a couple of weeks, etc. A couple weeks later on of the case workers told me my case was with an adjudicator. Another couple of weeks and the same case worker told me they are not touching them till 6 months and even when "they" do touch them, it isn't the actual adjudicator but some preliminary workers who start all the background checks before anything. She said to call her once again after the 6 month mark.

In the meantime I kept working with the Congressman's office and finally got them to call in an expedite and he told me it would be another few days. Yesterday I called the Senators office back again and she put me on hold while she called. She came back a little flustered and asked if I was working with a Congressman on this case. I told her yes and she came unglued. She told me I was "wasting peoples time" when I called more than one, and that every time they call, USCIS pulls the file and that's how they lose things(almost laughed on the phone at that one, yeah right). I was just glad to know the Congressman was actually able to get the expedite. Just be polite while making as much noise for your case as possible.

09/21/10 - I-129F Sent!

09/23/10 - I-129F Received in Dallas, TX

09/28/10 - Text & E-mail NOA1 (It was at 12:44AM, weird) Notification that our case was transferred to VSC.

09/29/10 - Check cashed

09/30/10 - NOA-1 Hard Copy dated Sep. 27, 2010

10/03/10 - TOUCH!

After numerous calls to USCIS, my two Texas Senators and a Congressman, the latter got an "expedite" put through (if you can call a month and a week after ONPT an expedite). Just never let up! Even though mine took way too long, there were people who were a month before me and waited longer because they just sat back and watched. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"

03/31/11 - NOA-2!

04/05/11 - Received NOA-2 hard copy.

04/07/11 - NVC Received

04/12/11 - Case left NVC via DHL

04/14/11 - Consulate Received Hard Copy of Case

I was just approved for an expedite and it a result of my local congressman's office bugging them about it. So yes after a month+ of not hearing anything calling them did get things moving.

Thanks for the replys, sounds like contacting the congressman/senator gives you mixed results, lets just hope it works.. we are still waiting for a reply from the congressman.. hope it works for all of us, this wait over 6 months is not fair on all of us

I refused to call my Congressman he is not all for the immigration process he's pushing for a law something that is not interest in immigration rights, so I decided to write and call my Senator instead. I am 5 months and weeks into my process and I am told to give it until April 6th, which will be my 30 days of waiting from the Service Request.

I see the Vermont Service Location has 11,746 cases PENDING!

Typically, most Senators/Congressman have a constitutive advocate that handles things like this. But, either way, the first step is to contact them and start the dialogue process. Usually through their website and someone will get back in touch with you. Then, as someone mentioned, you indeed have to sign a privacy form and fax back to them giving them permission to inquire on your behalf.

Good Luck....!

In the depths of agony due to the monkeyshines of the ####### Guayaquil consulate, I contacted the office of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison -- on the advice of a sharp immigration attorney who knew her chief aide. After a full day of trying, and hours on hold, I reached the aide. I politely began explaining the situation, and the aide cut me off with "The Senator has far better things to do than to concern herself with one person's K-1 application." The verbatim words were not as shocking as the disdain and haughtiness.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
