In the USA

Some cable TV systems in the northern U.S.A., serving cities such as Buffalo, Detroit, Seattle, and Burlington, carry CBC Television.

Two million Comcast Cable subscribers in the Seattle metro area and Western Washington state can view Corrie on CBUT (CBC Vancouver)

BUT (CBC Vancouver) carries Coronation Street at the following times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 7:30 - 8:00 pm, Sunday (omnbus showing): 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Lifted from here:

The news on BBC America carries minimal UK news and is not IMHO worth a subscription to dishnetwork, way too much Benny Hill,, Cash in Attic etc. The only things we find oursleves watching are the excellent crime stuff eg Wire in the Blood,. What surprised me when I first got here is that a large proportion of the stuff broadcast on it are programmes that are not shown on BBC in UK but those from ITV and CH4. Def stick with the online BBC broadcasting of radio channels for BBC news as we knew it truly fair and balanced :lol::lol::lol:

I have BBCA and I'm not that impressed. LOTS of Cash in the Attic, Benny Hill and Changing Rooms.

If you're only wanting it for the BBC News, go that PBS route.

And the other thing that is REALLY annoying is they will show maybe 3 episodes of some really good series and then say... "You can purchase the complete series through the BBC America shops"... shysters! Ok, great, now I'm going to have a DVD with 3 of the episodes I've already seen and 3 episodes I haven't...since I've seen 3, are you going to give me a refund for those I've seen? LOL

BBC America... mostly ####### except for the occasional bright spot.

All we watch on BBCA is Life on Mars. As for news, I read it on the BBC website and watch the streams for interesting stories.

Life on Mars is brilliant, easily my favorite show of the year, but I must admit I didn't watch them on BBCA.

You'd think some satellite company would be able to pick up and broadcast the BBC in America............

Unfortunately its a rights issue. BBC makes a lot of money selling their shows abroad, and also broadcasts a lot of US shows, so they can't broadcast straight BBC1 to the USA, as much as it would be great if they did.

There was talk of a 24 hour BBC News network in the US a while back, I wonder what happened to that?

EDIT: Its "BBC World", don't know how many stations carry it however.

we get BBCAmerica as part of our Comcast package. i watch 'Are you being served', 'Keeping up appearances' and 'What not to wear' (and i used to love watching 'The Office'). i've seen the bulk of the episodes already but i watch 'em anyway.

i can also get OnDemand for shows like Coupling and Extras, and watch past episodes anytime i want. most of the Britcoms can be seen on the local PBS station as well so its not a big deal. i don't watch it for the news so i can't comment on that part.

if its gonna be like $10 additional, its not worth it to watch mostly reruns and stuff when PBS is free.

the only channels i MUST have are the food network, the discovery channel, the travel channel (for anthony bourdain and samantha brown), and the speed channel for the hubby.

We get BBCA from comcast too. I never watch the news, but I love As Time Goes By and John likes Benny Hill (ick, but it's a free world...) We tend to turn it on in the morning and have it on as background noise because they don't show anything really objectionable until late afternoon. But if you're looking for the latest and greatest British shows I'm afraid you won't find them there.
