So I have read many topics related to the Vermont Service Center. I am only approaching my 4 month mark so this is in no way an arguement with time. I am more or less trying to understand the process of the Service Center-Vermont in particular. Are there certain days which the service center works on K-1's (129f) and other days K-3's (130)? Why is it most days seem so unproductive? I have heard so many people say "Write your Congressman" or "twitter your complaint". I hope when it comes my turn there is better information available then what I am reading. There seems to be a few people on here who either know people who work for the USCIS or have real information regarding the process and the reasoning behind such a slow pace. Unless you have a very good cause for expediting, the letters and twitters are not very reassuring. I am prepared to wait 5, 6 or 7 months but it would make the wait a little easier if we knew the reasoning behind the wait. Myself, I picture people working in a government environment where speed is not a requisite and when a person makes noise, it only assures the possibility of their file finding it's way to the bottom of the stack. So my question--Does anyone know how these so called "Service" centers operate and if there is any rhyme or reason as to what gets processed and when? I am sure there is a better understanding out there then to sit back and hope the agent had a good night sleep the night before or stopped and had a 5 hour energy drink before arrriving to work! I definitely hope this process is taking care of those who have waited the longest before handing out an NOA2 to someone who filed last month. As I said, a little understanding would be nice.

VisaJourney only represents a very small portion of the petitions USCIS does every day. It is very possible that they are processing at least some K-1's everyday, just not VJ's.

I read once (pleaes don't ask me to cite it) that USCIS receives 20,000 pieces of mail per day. Those of us on VJ represent a VERY minute portion of petitions at USCIS

While it may be frustrating and senseless, they are working on it. They have a huge volume of petitions to get through, and not to mention work visa applications, asylum applicaitons, student visas, exchange vistors, Temp. protective status, etc. While there may not be postings on VJ of approvals, it is certain that someone out there is having a petition adjudicated

Good luck

BUT, CSC on VJ is also a small percentage and they consistantly have petitions approved.

If you look on uscis website, at the end of jan, VSC had 12000 pending i129f's and only approved 1000 in jan. If thats all theyre doing, then its gonna be a long wait!!

While CSC, had 10000 pending yet approved over 2000!!

All i can think of is that VSC gets sent more each month and is still backlogged with those TPS apps that the closing sate was in Jan, maybe theyre still tryin to finish them before blitzing all ours!!!

On the bright side, the number of petitions approved by Vermont was an improvement. They had a definite trend of declining numbers and finally they turned it around. Maybe it's a sign of things to come?

At the USCIS site, on the left, there's a link for processing trends. From there you can pick which type you're looking for and which location. The trend chart for Vermont and I-129f is kind of depressing; watching the steady decline from June to December 2010. Hopefully a new trend is starting.
