I have to say that more people should go on vacation. I was told by my grandmother at an early age. "Son, if you dont save money but for one thing. Make sure you save it for vacation". I live by those words and let me tell you I have been to 4 different countries,35 states and 7 Caribbean Islands. Nothing like getting away. Take that vacation !!!! Even if it means sitting at home and watching the neighbors go by.

16/10/2006- Interview date- I'm nervous and my fiance is cool calm and collective. And she's the one that has to do the interview.

In a lot of situations, it's not how many vacation hours you get, it's actually scheduling the time off that's the issue. I've had employers tell me "No, you can't take that time off" But then when it gets to the end of year f you don't use it, you lose it.

God, I used to get 22 days a year in the UK. I once worked for a company that gave employees 30 days per year right off the bat.

I once heard on the RADIO here that "Europeans gain vacation time instead of the better wages and benefits" and would like to set that ignorant radio person straight - bollocks! Europeans get good health benefits (sure, the NHS does have a waiting period, but at least they do their best with the money and don't make you pay 'til you bleeeed!). I earned a heck of a lot more over there than I have been here, and got a decent amount of vacation too. So there.

You know why vacation time is important? Because you only have one life to live - some of it ought to be spent just being YOU. Travelling I think, is also incredibly important - there's a whole world out there...go see it before ya die!

I think the amount of vacation time here is pitiful - it's one of the things I don't like, and no economist can assuage my feelings on that one. However, start a business or fight for your human rights here and you often find that you're the one with your head sticking out above the crowd...and you'll get somewhere. :)

What's a vacation?

Don't you know that in the US, people exist only to work? Personal lives are forbidden. Oh how I wish we were still an agrarian society. You'd still be working all the time, but at least you'd be home and could be with your family.

This is why I enjoyed contract work so much. There were periods of no income, but I had time off, dammit!

I get 30 days of paid vacation each year and it's never enough. If I could take a reduction in pay in exchange for 30 more, I'd do it.

And the agrarian lifestyle is demanding work too. but I think the rewards are better than just the $$ that sometimes come along with it. you actually have something to show that means something.. vs "the report is done and in your email"

lawlz.. yea i can take the time from the people who don't want vacations...

my vacation weeks roll over.. doesn't mean i can take 3 straight weeks.. i'd have to take 1 week, work 1 day, then rest another week... etc..

vacations ftw.. and no, i dont have to check my emails or phone calls..
