Hi,

I am new to VJ. I am planning to move to NY to work as an accountant on the E-3 visa in August. From what I've researched, it sounds like it won't be an easy process.

I have not got a job lined up yet so I suspect that will be the hardest part. Has anyone here gone through this process? Do the employers have to prove that they have looked unsuccessfully for local employees? What are the processes for the employer? Obviously I want to make it as easy for them as possible to hire me?

What is the job market like for accounting professionals in NY, does anyone know?

Once I have a job offer I read that I will need to come back to Australia to apply as I am a first time applicant, is this right? How long are the wait times to get an interview in Melbourne? Any advice on the visa application process?

Will I need my SSN before I start work, or can I provide this after starting work? How long does the SSN need to apply and process?

I hear that I won't need my SSN to start a bank account, but I think that should I not have much luck job hunting and need to go out and come back on the VWP again it won't look too good at customs with a bank account cos they will think that I have no intention to leave. Thoughts?

Any advice on the move would be appreciated!

Thanks
