Not quite in an instant, but this "process" would take 2 days.

The happy couple would be assigned either a

1) painting or

2) wallpapering or

3) landscape or

4) drainage

project that would be challenging enough to take 2 days.

The couple would be assessed a "materials" fee for all the

supplies used but the government would furnish the equipment.

This way there would still be a fee and the government would save money in the bargain.

Not to mention all the government property that would get much needed refurbishment.

It would be like a mini-WPA.

Therefore, instead of taking 6 months to 2 years to wait for the bureaucratic wheels to turn,

a couple could be awarded a fiancée or spouse visa in only two days.

The catch would be this:

The couple would have to have 2 pulses and no injuries inflicted by the other party.

They would have to plan the project jointly and see it through to completion.

At the start, they would be shown the movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" with Brad Pitt

and Angelina Jolie, to get them into the spirit of marital cooperation.

{The wife and I are currently doing a wallpapering project that is taking more

than 2 days. So far we haven't killed each other so everything is great.}good.gif

He was also talking satirically. So what's the parallel? Is this a nice piece of satire which doesn't really have much of a point at all or do you actually believe that this is reasonable? If you think it's reasonable, how will you ensure national security under such a system?

When you're in a dating situation you're pretty much thinking about sex & where to go to eat.

You realize you're in a relationship when you actually have to cooperate to accomplish

something that doesn't revolve around merely scheduling an event. yes.gif

I got, then again, I'm not married so maybe that's why. :P

That depends on what time her husband comes home.

If this was concerning a dating scenario, would it be an immodest proposal? :P

Not too far from the truth.

When I first went to Thailand (and on all subsequent visits)

my wife didn't care WHY I was going there. She never

asked about Thailand up to and since my re-marriage.

My Thai wife's husband (whom I met soon after I arrived)

had the maturity to realize his marriage was dead and

actually accept me as a friend because his relationship

with my then fiancée was more like brother/sister.

There was no sneaking around and I met her son

the same time I met her husband. We did the civilized

thing, we all went out for dinner.

After my first trip to Thailand, my Thai wife got her

divorce in one day a week after I returned to New York.

There was no question that we would marry, except

the only unknown was WHEN.

She had the patience to understand that American

divorces usually take longer (mine took 4 years longer).

Part of our compatibility was that we were both in long-

term dead marriages. In hers there was no anger but

my ex wife was always angry (for the sake of being angry,

not because of jealousy). She had deep psychological

problems which came from her own dysfunctional

family relationships. I tried to be there for her for the

longest time but finally ran out of patience. When I

met the family of my then wife, I realized the dysfunction

was HER fault, not theirs.

I finished the wallpapering project late last night. :wow:

She was very helpful in a key way; visa approved jest.gif
