Why does HCMC not accept timelines at time of interview?

Timeline

Scott and Curtis - True, but as we've seen, HCMC moves in mysterious ways. Adding a timeline to initial package can't hurt.

Never thought it would hurt and I would suggest to send a brief one as a front load. We just want to mention that any that have done so have usually been asked for a timeline anyway in a blue slip. If you do front load anything make sure when they ask for an updated timeline that it matches the one that you front loaded but updated for any events since the date of the front loaded timeline.

We have gone through the debate about front loading in the past and I just want to caution to try not to out think the CO's.

Agreed as long as it is done in a way that does not shout out saying hey look deeper for something because I'm overcompensating for something... It could be the intent to marry with an explanation of the relationship (timeline of sorts) wrapped up with a this has brought us to this point where we will marry upon entry...

it sucks for them to ask for stuff and already know what they are going to say a month later.. but in some respects its still giving the couple some glimmer of hope or a chance to get the pink..

I wrote 2 pages for item 18 in the I-129F. I made it using a time line format. I am making a time line for my fiance to bring to the interview. Should I write the same stuff I used for the I-129F and add it to the new stuff that happened after I submitted petition, or should it be completely different?

Sent the I-129F petition to USCIS on Aug 20, 2010

I-129F Approved!!! Feb 7, 2011

Returned P3 to Consulate Mar 7, 2011

Interview Date May 20, 2011

Make sure they match as much as possible. Also make sure the fiancee knows what the timeline says in case they ask questions from it

AGREED.. It does not have to be word for word, but others have provided contradictory info in a timeline and had issues as a result... example.. timeline said met on june 3 2007... interview question resulted in june 5 ... anything that can be done to avoid confusion or miscommunication is a plus... Your SO must know and understand everything provided and be able to discuss it at the interview.

IMO item 18 is the best place to frontload relationship data... and address any potential red flags....

It does need to match word for word for the most part. If it was submitted then something else is submitted later throws a huge red flag. Lets say if you put on the first submission

Feb 14 2010: We went to the HCMC zoo and the war museum then we went and ate at the golden dragon.

Then you wrote

Feb 14 2010: Went to the HCMC zoo, war museum and ate at the golden dragon.

This would be acceptable for the most part, but the following way might lead to further investigation

Feb 14 2010: Went to HCMC zoo then we ate at the golden dragon.

This could confuse or cause further questions, possibly make them think your first or second or even both were fabricated to show a sham relationship, also if your fiancee/wife cannot remember the dates or gets them mixed up it can also cause problems. Regardless though of what you submit it is truly up to the CO and how your fiancee/wife acts during the interview, if she is confident and the CO wants, then you can get a pink or a blue, it just depends on the moment, and most cases, but not all are decided prior to the interview and as long as the interview goes smoothly (saying you were preapproved) you will still get the pink

Good luck Jerome

As Scott said so well it does not have to be word for word but make sure it matches pretty much what the front loaded one said. I pretty much sent the same timeline that I sent with the application but updated for events that happened sent the application. This is easy. The main part is to make sure the fiancee knows everything in that timeline and any and all info sent to the consulate as some questions may come from them.

They don't have to match word for word. They don't even have to be remotely similar. They just shouldn't contradict each other on any key facts, nor should the timeline contradict anything else in the body of evidence that's been submitted nor anything the beneficiary says at the interview.
