Why does HCMC not accept timelines at time of interview?

In reading several posts, it appears that the US consulate at HCMC doesn't accept the timelines when brought to the interview, but will accept them later. I can't see the logic for this.

It is a stalling tactic? Was the timeline at the interview not notarized? Any clues?

its a stall tactic IMO... some have had a notarized timeline in hand and were given a blue slip asking for it and told to come back... logic does not apply all of the time in HCMC

Maybe they want time to read the timeline. This is the only explanation I can think of.

I absolutely do not think so. My fiance turned in all the documents on the blue slip which includes the timeline. They took the documents and gave a number to wait. After 10 - 15 mins they came out with a PINK slip. Whether or not they actually read it, I doubt it. I honestly think it is just a stall tactic as Scott stated. The result in most cases are determined already.

stall tactic for what? when filed my i-129f i didn't know to include the timeline (i just submitted a 2 page letter outlining our relationship). after visiting this board i do have a timeline notarized ready for the day of the interview...hopefully they'll ask for it at the prescreen and not blue slip us during the interview and request for it later.

wait didn't get it. Could you be a little more clear. From my understanding so far. They gave your wife a blue already or....they havent read the timeline yet and gave her the blue then she turn in the timeline and she gets a pink is that it?

She had the timeline on the interview date which they did not care to take. After the interview was finished, they gave the blue slip which they want timeline, my 10 year residency, her 10 year residency, and any relatives she had in US. 3 weeks later after interview date was when it was submitted. I never included my timeline in the I-129F.

They might use the extra time to review what they learned during the interview. There are a number of instances where a pink sheet was with the case at the time of the interview and the CO decided to issue a blue sheet after the interview.

As Kevin said they could use the time to look deeper, or they may have just been to busy and didnt get to the file at all and are using it as a stall tactic to deal with the case at a later date.. As has been said, quite often the pink was ready and waiting when the docs were submitted so it wasnt like they needed time to look through them or even really needed them at all... just a hurdle to see if we can get over in many cases IMO....

Stalling. They know if you are going to get a pink or blue before the interview in most cases. Most CO's are junior and can't even make the choice themselves and have to go to a more senior person and let them know how the interview went and what is to be done. With the blue for whatever reasons it gives them time to make a decision.

notarized timeline with the i-129f would be best. saving it for the interview might be too late and they could blue-slip you to delay.

They can always ask for an updated one in a blue slip even if one was included in the initial filing...

Exactly. The timeline has been front loaded many times with the visa application and it has usually been asked for again on a blue slip. It is best not to try to out think the CO's. If they want to blue slip they will do so.

Scott and Curtis - True, but as we've seen, HCMC moves in mysterious ways. Adding a timeline to initial package can't hurt.
