Form G325a is too big to send

My fiance is in Cuba and I need to send her some of the forms she is required to fill out. The problem is Cuba has the worst telecommunications in the Americas. Attachmenst larger than a few KBs simply will not go through. I have tried sending the G-325a form to her in a variety of ways but 568KB is just too big. I am a computer specialist and so is she, but neither of us have been able to find a way to shrink, compress, convert or otherwise modify that PDF file to a size Cuba's frail emails system will accept. We are also concerned that any such modification will make it unacceptable to immigration.

Any ideas?

I'm no computer expert but can she not just download them and fill them out, print and then mail them to you?

She can do none of the above.

Connection to the internet in Cuba is $10/hour for a 33kbps connection on an ancient machine you can rarely connect a flashdrive to. Assuming she was allowed to make the connection, it would take at least 30-60 minutes to download that single file and whether or not she could store it on a flash drive or not is the call of the location she is connecting from. Usually you cannot. She has a computer but there are only a half-dozen locations within Havana where she could use her computer and those are engaged in not allowing Cubans access to their wireless system. Assuming she did all of that, mail is not currently permitted to go from Cuba to the US and I am doubtful she would be able to email me the form for the same reason she cannot receive it.

Thanks for the dropsend suggestion but it doesn't resolve the problem either. The filesize remains too large to pass through the Cuban intranet email filter.

I need a way to reduce the size of the file itself before sending it.

First off I know you can to it with Adobe applications.

Anyway, I was just messing around and captured the screen, saved as a jpeg and I was able to get it down to 84kbs (which is really small). Anyway, it's attached. You will have to convey the second page to your fiance. Good luck

Can you send a link to the form and she can open it and print it?

Cuba is not the rest of the world. We all presume a reasonable internet connection and take it for granted. It is NOT available in Cuba.

Very few have ANY ability to connect to the internet and those that can have severely delimited access.

I appreciate the desire to assist but please limit your good ideas to how one can reduce the size of a PDF file and discontinue proffering suggestions that cannot happen in Cuba.

I sent a 120kb jpg copy of the form several hours ago. Because Cuba filters all such transmissions, she probably has not been able to even look at the email, if, in fact, it went through. It always takes several hours between the sending of an email and its receipt in Cuba, or vice-versa.

Please, update us on if the 120 file worked or not?

Sounds like you would be better off just printing it off for her and mailing it. Sometime technical stuff will just be more headache than it's worth.

Just my 2 cents.
