Which is right 6 months or 1 year

I'm trying to figure how long a medical examination from India is valid for Visa.

Here it says, 6 months, Chennai consulate, India

Typically it is 6 months for a visa and one year if you will do adjustment of status. I would go by the 6 months since it comes straight from the US Embassy Chennai site. The US Embassy sites are more up to date (in most cases)than sites like you posted for the second link.
