So I've booked my flight and will be winging my way to the High-Five State in 25 days

On the BA website they ask you to complete advanced passenger information. One of the boxes is for Alien Reg No. When you click on the info icon it says

'An Alien registration number is the ‘A#’ number that appears on a US Permanent Resident Card, also known as a Green Card.'

So technically I do have an alien no in my K1 visa, not sure if I have to put it down...?

I'm asking this as I bought a return flight as it was significantly cheaper, and I don't want to raise a red flag and get in trouble with the airline..!!

Just wasn't sure if it's necessary for immigration purposes...Any thoughts much appreciated, as always.

Make sure when you arrive to the USA and activate your K-1 that you cancel your return tickets with the airline before you leave the airport. If you don't cancel the tickets it could cause problems.

The Alien Registration number is on your visa (It starts with the letter A). You have to provide the advance passenger information 48 hours prior to the flight so if you have not got the visa back yet ,once you do you will be able to update the information (don't forget to do this or they won't let you fly until they verify the information). The airlines is verifying that you will be allowed to enter the US when you get there as you are using a specific visa. They will check that by checking the A number on your visa.

It shouldn't cause a problem by getting a round trip flight - most people do because it is cheaper. It is a good idea to cancel the round trip tickets, although you can do this any time prior to the return flight date if you don't wish to do it right away. It shouldn't cause you any problems with immigration. If anyone asks about it, you just explain 'it was cheaper' and you will be canceling the return flight.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks, that's really helpful :)

I got my passport with shiny visa back last week. My alien no starts with a 'C'. Not sure why that is, maybe because K1 is technically non-immigrant..?

I will definitely double and triple-check that the airline have cancelled my return trip. Have heard of some people having all sorts of problems because they forgot, and the relevant authorities presumed they had 'abandoned' their visa...eeek! Not after everything we've been through to get here!

Double-check that Alien #. If it's the number in red on the visa, it is the "Non-Immigrant Visa Number", not the alien No. Your A# might be listed on your I-129F NOA2 Approval notice. (I've heard some are, some aren't.)

But, yes, as for the cancelling of the return flight.. I've seem to recall a case here on VJ where the person didn't cancel their return flight so the airline mistakenly reported that person as having departed the U.S. to CBP. I don't remember the outcome but I'm sure it wasn't easy. So, it's best to cancel it ASAP (and verify it!)

Phew, thanks for correcting me, I had mistaken the number in red for my alien no...

I'll get my fiance to check my NOA2 this eve...

No problem.. I only learned what the red number was when we filed for AOS.blush.gif

The Alien # (A#) should start with an 'A' and be followed by 9 digits. If I recall correctly, it doesn't actually say A# or Alien #, it's just listed on the NOA2 (under the beneficiary's name, I think.)
