We love Canadians supporting our system so I don;t have to go to Boston for bypass surgery, and they need a place to get MRIs and buy stuff without the 15% sales tax.

Je me Souviens!

Not to mention that the $US is only worth 98 cents Canadian now. Border states should continue to see the benefit of Canadian economic tourism as the US dollar moves closer and closer to becoming the new peso.

No, the F-16s are Vermont ANG, not Canadian AF.

If you're in VT, the Canadians wouldn't be flying over your house, would they?

And you are aware that we have agreements to defend Canada. Right? And you are aware that one of the reasons they can have such a small military is because we have a very big one and agreements to defend them, right? And you are aware that at Mach 2 an F-16 flying over Vermont is about 10 seconds from Montreal, right?

And since Canada saves billions by having a big and good friend to the south, they have more money to afford a poor health care system with a chronic doctor shortage and long wait times for service. Imagine if they had to defend all their borders (that's a lot of miles of border) on their own, how would they afford their doctor shortage them?

Any comparison of medical systems always leaves out the two wild cards...Canadians going to the US for medical treatment, and a small Canadian military subsidized by the US. When the Premier of Newfoundland needed a heart bypass he went to the US. The Premier of Quebec is very nervous about Vermont's plan to have a single payer system. Not to worry Monsieur, we need you as much as you need us. Quebecois could go to New York or New Hampshire, but none of the northern areas of those two states have developed the medical facilities Vermont has, plus we have a good medical school at UVM. In this part of the continent, nothing compares to the health care available in Vermont. Good news for our Quebec neighbors.

we love them! 2 million + Quebecois living just across the border from a state with 600,000 people, with good money and we have low taxes! Yeeeee Haaaaaaaaa. Can you guess the pro forma of retailers here?

I used to live south of Vancouver so I don't have to guess. But back then the Canadian dollar got you about 65 cents in the US so it wasn't worth the trip. Nowadays it might be worth it just to fill the car up with gas.

It is. Check out the gas stations in Alburg, Newport, Derby Line, Vermont and Champlain NY. Quebecois plates lined up to buy gas.
