Dana Reeve??? I don't think that is a close comparison at all...............my 11 year old nephew could give 2 shi*s about Dana Reeve but "the crocidile hunter" he knows and cares about.

I know what Steve brought to the world and to Australia, (other than entertaining TV shows). Some of the things he did have been mentioned in this very thread so your research should begin right here.

I will step down from defending the virtues and values of Steve Irwin from this point because the people arguing that he was casually careless, sensationalist and/or effectively useless can only be speaking about that which they know very little. Such people speak volumes about themselves and their own characters more than the person they are knowingly or unknowlingly slating.

Just as she was on the PC side of stem cell research, he was on the PC side of "Saving the Planet." Personally I couldn't careless is alligators are made into shoes and purses, but to all the tree huggers he was doing God's work. After watching the Larry King interview and finding out was going on in his head I wasn't impressed.

You've obviously never seen him. He was on the PC side of anything. This man was passionate about his work. Since when does that make him PC? And if he was, what the hell is wrong with that? Or would you rather we just nuke all the animals?

It does seem that people dont think wildlife education is important. Or anything to do with wildlife for that matter. From the response I got to the devastating case of the Wildlife Sanctuary, people just dont seem to care.

More concerned with themselves, and their own selfish, egotistic lifestlyes.

I am however hoping that Steves tragic death will raise awareness of the things he was trying to promote, and his cause will continue to gain strength.
