Hello VJ,

Just wanted to share this little story with everyone.so started my AOS journey last september with my wife(she's my dependant-CAA).got an RFE for my medicals so everything had to be redone.2weeks after NBC received my response and resumed my case.mid december we got our EADs.and then quiet....

So after being patiet decided to take some action since my friends(some were even applying after us) got their GCs already.made an infopass for mid-april and yesterday morning finally NCSC allowed me to put in a service request!I wanted to do the same for my wife but they didn't let me since she wasn't with me at the time I was calling.

Okaaaay so my wife gets home and it's time for second round with uscis costumer service:)I explain the situation again but the clueless representative won't let me but in another SR saying that my wife is still within normal processing time(I'll tell him that my wife case is still in acceptance-6months after filing since when is it normal ?).after a couple of mins of arguing and being on hold the customer service guy gives it up and says to me that he's transferring the call to a level two IMMIGRATION OFFICER.(I was thinking :"nice finally who can really help me":)so after explanation the IO tells me:" I don't think your wife needs a SR,we just sent her and interview letter"-niceeeeeeeeeee.so wait a minute.since our case is based on Cuban adjustment and she can't be approved before I do how is it possible that I DO have a SR.than she looks it up and says:"actually sir u'r coming as well to the interview":)

So what did we learn AGAIN:if you call customers service don't waste your time if you need serious help and ask right way to a transfer to an IO,lol:)

PS.:yesterday I received my registration card from Selective Service since uscis sent them everything upon the "acceptance" of the I-485.just a curious question:acceptance means APPROVAL or filing date?:)

Glad that you have finally got some information and movement. Just to let you know, the people who answer the phone on the 'Information Line' are not immigration officers - they are contracted Call Center employees who have scripted information for general immigration situations only. As often as not they get that information wrong as well so that you can call the information line 4 times in a row, get 4 different people and get 4 different answers - and all of them may be wrong. It is also known as the 'MisInformation Line" . The information that they can see on their computers is little more than the same information you can see when you check your own status updates. So, yes, if you can get them to forward your call to the next service level you get to speak to an actual Immigration Officer. Anything below that is going to be dubious at best.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
