Try calling DOS and asking. But, I'd suggest calling them a few times and take an average of what they tell you. One might tell you one thing, while another says something different.

And have you tried using your reference number from the CSC site on DHL.ca?

Unfortunately, Montreal has been going through a slight backlog for the past few months where it's been taking longer than usual to get the passport back. Just stay active with calling DOS and checking the DHL site. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I have been calling them pretty much every day and they tell me basically the same thing. It's still being processed at the consulate and has not yet been issued. I did try checking the DHL site last week but with DOS telling me it hasn't been printed I haven't checked again. I'll do that now...

Hoping that they hurry up! I keep seeing the happy news of others who had interviews after me, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

DOS told us to start calling DHL or Montreal since our visa has been issued, but we have a few times and can't get ahold of anyone. For Montreal he uses the 'other' option(I think thats it) and the same messages keeps repeating over and over, and with DHL he chooses the pick up one and it just gets transferred back to main menu or just get complete silence.

Any ideas what to do or what options we should choose? We have emailed already.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, you can't call Montreal. Only email. I'd suggest shooting them an email, but expect to wait a few days for a response.

Have you tried taking the reference number on the CSC site and inputting it on DHL.ca?

IzaKing : If it hasn't been issued yet you will not find anything through DHL. You should get it soon. Hang in there!

Angela : You will not be able to reach someone at the consulate by phone. You can pray they answer your email or you can contact DHL (phone or in person at your local branch). Also double check their email with tracking number is not in your spam folder. It can take a few business days for them to mail the issued visa.

Thanks, a month ago we were able to somehow talk to someone by calling the Montreal phone number, I guess that doesn't happen often?

The DHL number we call is the 1800 number, we haven't been able to find the number to the local one (in London, Ontario)

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. And for your honesty. I just want to know that we're officially approved, I can handle the wait time for the actual Visa.

Keep us posted around when you actually get your Visa and passport back.

Hi All!

Just wanted to let you know that I received my DHL waybill number tonight after having to submit additional documents to the consulate on August 4th. I called DOS this past Friday and was still "in administrative processing".

Also, on Friday i had sent an email to the Montreal Consulate inquiring on the status of my Visa - I was getting concerned because I hadn't even gotten an "approval" yet when I called DOS. About 20 minutes after I sent the email they actually got back to me with this:

Good day,

Please note that all mail addressed to the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal undergoes thorough security clearance procedures at an offsite facility. This creates additional delays for the mail to actually reach our office. The date you claim the mail was delivered is not the actual date our office has received your mail. You may expect your case to be reviewed within 4 weeks from the date that the mail was sent.

I hope that this information may be useful.

Sincerely,

OP8

Correspondence Assistant | Immigrant Visa Unit

I did put in the subject line "PLEASE PRIORITIZE: URGENT Case # XXXXXXXXXXX" I'm not sure if that helped. Also, they wanted my husbands 2010 tax documents which I sent in the day after my interview on August 4th. But, I also sent in his recent job offer about two weeks later. The Consulate didn't ask for this specifically but, when I spoke to a lovely agent at DOS (Beth and Matthew are the absolute best there!) it was suggested that if it could help my case at all and was relevant to the additional required documentation that it wouldn't hurt to send it in. 12 days later I have my waybill number! Not sure if this helped but clearly it didn't hurt.

Thank you to everyone on here - this site was a Godsend! And, I'll continue to follow for the next steps! If anyone has any questions at all around sending additional documentation to the Montreal Consulate please feel free to message me.

Good Luck all!

Wow, I just checked csc for the 100th time today, and finally a waybill number!

It is kind of confusing, though. It says...

Shipment Record Received - Dorval

Picked Up by Loomis - Dorval

Undeliverable - Dorval

Is this normal? Kinda worries me it says undeliverable, even though it was just sent out (29th)

That usually means it's ready for pick up, but if Dorval isn't your selected location I suggest calling DHL to confirm and then, if it is in Dorval waiting for you, to email Montreal AND the CSC website. That happened to mine and it would have sat there waiting for us to drive back to Quebec if we didn't correct them.

For what it's worth, they fixed mine quickly (which I know is unheard of for Montreal ;)) and it only ended up delaying my picking it up by one day.

Now the csc website says ready for pickup, and the tracking number hasn't updated and still days Dorval. I guess we should call DHL? When I think everything is going good finally, something like this happens, lol..

Grats on the waybill number! I believe when it says consulate section that it's at the consulate, ready for pick-up by DHL.

Mine was "undeliverable" too. It just means they don't have permission to mail it to your home address. Go pick it up (and bring an ID)!
