Thanks Karen!, we just called DOS and were given to understand that they have all the necessary information and our case is in AP. The wait time according to the operator was 4 to 8 weeks . This is a bummer and quite upset now :crying:.BTW,Did you call DOS?

Not sure if India is considered to be in a high fraud country -God this testing period is getting too much to endure!

Sorry to hear about your case being in AP. Some times they say that but it really takes a shorter time to go through. Just keep the faith, and call as often as you can though it really doesn't make a difference as the process is being done by the montreal embassy.

We called DOS today and the guy said he did not have access to tell us where our visa processis right now. We'll just trying later to speak to someone else who can give us a real answer.

Well we called DOS again and this time we were informed that our case is pending and they have no clue on how much more time it will take - I guess the response we get from DOS varies on the person we talk to and it is very important for us to stay calm and get a control on ourself ( easier said then what I can actually practice).. Is pending status same as AP?

@ceciliaottawa : We wish that you get your visa very soon and pray that this wait time gets over soon..not sure how else I can add value -- did you tell IV Processing Unit in Montreal on the urgency since you are running out of time and hopefully this may help. I remember seeing some post on how someone faxed a note to Montreal ..

Yes, the "visa specialists" are as clueless as the poeple who used to ansewer the phone at NVC. I just hope they get what ever they are doing with my visa done soon so that i can get a life.

@Cecilia, that is true, i read about that some where in the threads. Yuo can just start with an email explaining your situation though i know your visa will be out in time for you not to stay here illegally. But just try to get the ball rolling and send the embassy an email and a fax to see if they respond.

thanks for all the congrats. I guess the next step is POE next week. super excited! Decided to just make it Tuesday morning instead of Monday night late.

I hope Karen and Kribun get your emails an visas soon! So exciting for everyone!

Also I just got back from picking my visa up! They put the visa on page 16 of my passport which kind of confused me since I dont have anything else in it.. I was like.. why didn't they just put it on page 1? oh well :P

Same thing happened here. When I first got my passport back, I was flipping through the pages getting worried since I didn't see a visa. But then I finally found it all the way in the back, even though I only had 2 stamps in my passport.

Thanks Saylin. I'll probably do my POE in two weeks. Have a lot of stuff to settle here first. Depending on the airline i take it could be the Toronto or Ottawa airports as i will be flying in.

I had my interview on a Tuesday and I had my passport in hand that Friday, so only 3 days. I didn't even need to call DOS. I'm sure it helped that I lived in Montreal and chose the DHL location that was only 30 minutes away.

If you want to check on your status, call DOS at 202-663-1225. Press 1 and then 0 to speak with a visa specialist.
