Hi guys, so good to read about other people that have been through what i'm going through now, I've been looking everywhere on here to find similar situations like mine...so I brought in the wrong birth certificate, I have two- unofficial and official one, they requested I mail the official (original) one along with my passport, (I keep reading about 221g) well he didn't give me any 221g form, he just said "your visa is approved and once I receive the original birth certificate and your passport, the visa will be processed":

Interview: June 7th

Mailed passport and original birth certificate: June 7th

Received at their offsite facility: June 8th

Anyone ever been in this exact situation? or anyone who knows anyone lol who has been in such a situation? How long did you wait before your visa was issued? and how long did you get your passport with visa?

Thanks guys and GOODLUCK everyone :)

They seem to take awhile when you send in documents after the interview. In March & April there were quite a few of us in similar situations- no 221g, approved at interview, but additional documents needed to be mailed back to the embassy.

If you email them, they will give you the canned answer than it "may take up to 8 weeks"

For most people I've seen on here, it has taken usually anywhere from 3 weeks minimum to 6 weeks.

Ours took 4 weeks to be issued from the date they received our additional document (actually received- not offsite).

I am still waiting on my interview but it looks like its going to be sometime in August.

The problem I have is, I have a travel to the US coming up at the end of August that I had planned since the beginning of this year (I didn't think my Green Card process would drag on this long).

From reading through this thread, I came up with these information... Please tell me if it is incorrect.

1. If you get approved at the interview, you will receive your passport back in 2-3 weeks MOST of the time. But there's a good chance that it can get stuck somewhere in the consulate or Canada Post and cause weeks of delay.

2. If you get AP, you can get your passport back at the interview but you can't travel to the US because it is immigration intent.

So, rather than take my chances, I am wondering once I get my appointment, I should just request to get it delayed until I come back from this trip to the US.

Another option I thought about is, going to the interview with a missing document on purpose so I can get the interview over with and go home with my passport. Then once I come back from my travel, send out the passport and the missing document to the consulate.

Anyone have any advice for me?

So since you have no timeline and I don't know what visa you are applying for, hard to give advice. In my case it was CR1/IR1.

So, I will give you some advice based on my experience at looking at all the posts on here. From what I have seen as soon as someone misses something or delays, it always seems to cause there case to drag on a bit, from what I have seen. Not in all cases but that is the impression I get. Missing a document and sending it in has added 2-8 weeks time to a lot of people.

I was lucky, I had everything and got my passport back like 3 days after the interview. But I don't think my case is a good example since most people take longer.

Hello,

I'm actually a bit worried because after five months AP, I was told to send my passport and now after two weeks it's still in AP status. Please share your experience if you are in the same boat. I am not sure how long it takes usually.

Thanks

I'm in the same boat. After being in AP since January, I was finally told to send in my passport on May 31st. It's been 3 weeks now, and despite sending them 4 emails, I still have no response. Don't even know if my passport has been forwarded to my reviewer or it's just sitting in the mail room.

The waiting is driving me crazy!!! My guess is that it depends on the type of visa but also your reviewer. When I sent in my additional documents last time, I was told to wait for 8 weeks. My case was not touched until the last two weeks of that wait period, and then I could see it was worked on almost everyday, until May 31st which was when I got the email asking for passport. I think my reviewer is a procrastinator that likes to do things very last minute. So I guess I shouldn't expect to hear anything until second week of August... :crying::crying::crying:
