We drove our car from Canada to Phoenix and we didn't import our car. We imported in Phoenix by going to the airport. You can get list of POEs near your city to see where you can go to get the paperwork signed. It was actually much MUCH easier in Phoenix than it was at the border.

Good to know you were able to do that. Its been informed on the board you need to do it at the border. Probably depends on the CBP you encounter.

Have been in administrative processing and on May 19 the status changed to READY but no correspondence email. On May 27 the status changed to ISSUED. Very happy about this but our concern is we still have not sent my husbands passport to Montreal due to US travel obligations. Will we receive an email to submit or will Montreal just send the Visa to our address along with port of entry paperwork?

I would send it, I guess you still could wait up to 8 weeks for them to process and return it, but meanwhile you have to think of when all of his medical, police check etc are going to expire. I would send it with the cover sheet etc like when you sent the additional sponsor info. If you are not 100% sure you want to do that then email the general email and hopefully someone will respond quickly. But as NLR says, they're not going to send you a visa that's not attached to a passport, so it's got to get to them one way or another.

Just to confirm, the consulate would not ask for the passport? You just have to know when to send it to them? And it's another 8 weeks of waiting for them to stamp the passport?

They should have asked for the passport. It's quite odd that it's "issued" without it

I'd email or use their online form to ask what's up.

I sent mine back to them in the package with my additional documentation, since I wanted to expedite as much as I could and was able to manage without it in the interim. The man at my interview instructed me to do so, although there was no specific request for it in writing (I didn't leave my passport there because I had a holiday booked and needed it). So knowing that they need it to issue the visa, I don't see a reason to hang onto it, since it seems as though it can take up to 8 weeks for them to process whatever it is that you send them.

This is just my opinion, everyone's circumstance is different.

Anybody had an experience about how long it takes between time of passport request email and visa issuance?

So the consulate did not have your passport when the visa was ready to issue and they requested it?

We are in that situation but our status changed to Issued on Friday without the consulate having the passport. We are just waiting on some kind of correspondence as to the next step.

I'm surprised the status changed from Ready to Issued within a few days without have the passport at the consulate.

Well, we have been on roller coaster of feelings for the last 2 weeks since our status has changed from AP to:

May 19 - Ready

May 27 - Issued

May 31 - back to AP

We have not received any correspondence sine the status was changed on May 19th.

We need to send my husband's passport but now have a family medical issue that requires travel to the US so I guess we will be holding off the rest of the immigration process until we know my mom will be ok (possible open heart surgery). My husband says that he does not want to be unable to travel to the US over the next couple weeks.

I just wish there was a person to talk to instead of just sending an inquiry email.

We finally received an email today saying that the passport has to be sent in right away since the medical expires June 17, 2016.

So Sean sent his passport off today by express post so it will be in Montreal off-site on Friday, June 3, 2016.

I will be heading to the US myself for my mom & hoping the turn-around is fast for the passport return since he is unable to travel now until he gets his passport back with the Visa attached.
