Got it in my paws!

For others in the greater Vancouver area, it left Mtl Monday night, arrived in RIchmond Tuesday night, and was at the Burnaby PO at 08:30 today (Wednesday) (although the PO doesn't open until 09:00) so if you are close by, you might be able to plan to travel same-day.

I'm travelling ungodly early tomorrow since I had to book ahead, with the cat.

Thanks to everyone for your help, and your support! Hoping PriyaB and Idy especially, but all still waiting, get good news very soon.

Thank you!! All the best for your move :)

Small POE update:

My little white Manx cat Hayley Wickenheiser doesn't like to be handled, and resisted capture to go to the airport, making us late, and then slipped her harness at security at YVR, leading me, security, and US border personnel on a merry chase hither and thither through the NEXUS area and secure areas I haven't been to before, before getting cornered inside the Coke machine in some organization's lunch room. It seemed to amuse many of the people lined up to go through security and immigration, but I was ready to leave her behind, little wretch!

We came thisclose to missing our plane, but the actual POE part was pretty straightforward.

Emailed the consulate to ask how things were going with the Visa. I recieved this in responce:

Good morning,

Thank you for your email!

Kindly note that a new Canadian police certificate should be submitted to the U.S Consulate General Montreal. Please send the document at your earliest convenience in order to continue with the processing of your case.

Best regards,

Correspondance Unit-Immigrant Visa

U.S Consulate General Montreal

I sent them an email in return asking if they found this out from the actual consular officer or it was just based on viewing my file. I have two days left I think...I know that the 16th is a Tuesday and I do not think they issue a visa on the day the police check expires.. I am praying that something happens in the next two days but it looks unlikely :-/

Hi Everyone- I am wondering if anyone on here could help shed some light on an issue I am facing.

I had my interview at the Montreal consulate on January 13, 2016. I was told my visa was approved and that should expect to have my passport with visa back in two weeks. However, 4 weeks later I still haven't received my passport or any notice from the consulate. I used the public inquiry forum to contact the embassy and they told my that my case was "under consular review." I checked the CEAC status and it still says "Ready" in terms of being ready to schedule an interview. I have not received any more contact such as a request for more documents from the consulate. Has anyone else dealt with this in the past who can shed some light on what I am experiencing? It is very unnerving!!

Thanks!

I am in the same situation as you but I am probably the worst case scenario. My case was stuck in READY for a very long time, up until my second interview and now it is in Admin. I also was told my case was perfect and I did not need to send extra information. I was expand on this below.

I had my interview last year on July 12, 2015. I was approved after a ten-minute interview and told I would get my passport in two weeks. Fast forward 6 months later and I still don't have my passport or visa.

I tried serval times from July to January to contact the consulate. I received the same answer no matter which source of communication I used - they said I was in Administrative processing and I should be patient. I had emailed the consulate on my own for the first three months after my interview then I got my husbands senator involved. For some, this helped speed up the process but for me, that wasn't the case. My husband's senator's office would communicate with the consulate and they would say the same thing each time, that my case was under admin.

On January 5th, I sent an email asking for my passport back because I am going to travel in March. They emailed the same day and asked me to go to Montreal for a second interview. I went to Montreal and had my second interview. They asked me some silly messages, like how tall I was, what my parents name was, and to identify my own photograph (the one I had given them during the first interview). Again, I was confirmed within ten minutes, then they told me to redo my medical which expired the week before. They also mentioned to me that my police check was expiring on Feb 16th and if I get my medical to them before that my visa should be easily processed. I redid my medical on Jan 14th and sent it to them after I received it. They got my medical on Jan 25th and then looked at my case on January 28th. I had been constantly checking the ceac site but there has been no update since Jan 28th so I sent them an email yesterday. This morning I received an email telling me to redo my police check from the correspondence unit.

I emailed them once again to ask if the request for the police check was from my consular agent. If it wasn't if they could correspond with him and find out what is actually going on since he had told me that there would be no issue after the second interview.

Honestly, I was frustrated this morning. I am leaving this in God's hand's though. My two year anniversary is in May. If I don't get the visa by the end of this week I will wait until I return from Taiwan to do my police check and send it in. Then I will wait for whenever time the visa comes. Whatever will happen, will happen when it is supposed to.

My case is the worst case scenario, though. I suggest getting in contact with the senator sooner rather than later.

Hi PriyaB,

I am wondering- were you given any former notice from the US consulate, ie a 221g notice? Or were you informed why you have been experiencing this delay?

Thanks!

I had my interview July 15th and am still waiting as well. I emailed a couple weeks ago and got a fast response that they were missing form i864, which is complete b.s. Because I gave them the original at the interview.. We've sent a new one and now I'm just waiting for them to acknowledge they've taken so long my medical and police check are expired. This process really sucks I hate it

Hi Lynmthomas,

Did you receive any notice such as a 221g or any other indication as to why (besides the "missing" form) that your application was delayed?

Thanks!

We received no form or notice. I only know what I do from persistently bothering them.

That is so mind-boggling! I am so sorry and my intuition is telling me that I am heading toward a similar fate. Please let me know your final outcome!

I'll know by Friday. My case is a little different from yours because I'm a CR1 but it seems they are messing up a few legit applications either way.

I pray that you don't have to wait too long though.
