Seeing everyone get their K1 visa so quickly is really disheartening...I wish I had just gone that route. :(

PriyaB so sorry that you are still waiting but do not lose hope. I have been in your shoes. The upside is that with YOUR Category of visa once you get ISSUED YOU do not have many other steps whereas with K1 there are other steps that they will go through. Trusting that you will get ISSUED before the holidays.

Hi all,

This is my first ever post on VJ, although I have constantly been on here as a guest through out this entire process.

We went the route of a lawyer (shudder) because I have a daughter from a previous relationship and we wanted to make sure we did everything properly. We went this entire process using her birth certificate (she is four) as her primary travel document, and not once was it mentioned to us that she would need a passport. I know, quite stupid on our end as it is so obvious, but even more annoying that our lawyer never brought it to our attention. So after thousands of legal bills, we have found ourselves in the worst case scenario... the dreaded AP.

We had our interview November 16 2015, and were approved but given a 221g for me to send in her passport. I quickly went the next day, had it done, and sent it out. It arrived at the consulate on November 25, which is when our status update date changed on the CEAC website.

I am still stuck in AP, and my daughters says Ready, although her status update date changed to Dec 2.

So I know they are working on my case, or checking it out at least. I can't imagine how those feel who have been stuck in AP for months, even over a year. It has been less than 20 days for us and I am freaking out.

I have been following a few recent posters in this thread who were in the same boat as me, having to send in additional documents, and I see you have been issued! Congrats! Please keep us updated on when you finally have your visa's in hand, to give me a typical timeline of when we might get ours. We are supposed to get married on the 18th of December, booked and everything, now it is not looking likely:(

And of course they just had to switch to Canada Post, and those of us with recent interview's will be the guinea pigs while they work out the kinks:(

Good luck everyone!

November 16 2015: Interview in Montreal

Result: Approved, but additional documents requested

November 25: Documents received by consulate

December 29: Visa's in hand!

December 29: POE at Peace Bridge

January 5: Married!!!! (L)

January 11: Applied for SSN

January 18: Sent out I-485 packet

January 19: Received SSN card

January 29: Received text notification that I-485 package has been received

February: Additional documents requested

May 25: Advance Parole granted (pointless, in my case)

Mine was shipped the same day as yours. Got my tracking number that night. It was ready for pickup in Ottawa the next day. We picked it up yesterday with no issues. All I needed to do was sign for it and show them my ID (Driver's license).

Hope you get yours soon! Not sure why its taking so long for them to sort it in Mississauga.

Hey! My timeline when I was watching the CEAC website after submmiting additional documents went like this:

Nov 04: Updated to "Administrative Processing" on CEAC (This was my interview date)
Nov 14: Mailed documents through Loomis courier
Nov 16: Tracking indicated my documents were delivered.
Nov 23: Update switched to Nov 23 but still under Administrative Processing
Nov 30: Update switched to Nov 30 but still under Administrative Processing
Nov 30: Status changed to "READY"
Dec 01: Issued - received email later in the day with tracking information.
Dec 02: Arrived at Canada Post to be picked up.
I was really worried when they switched from Loomis to Canada Post as well, but I had no issues with them when I picked up my passport. They seemed to have sent it express, so hopefully it gets to people ASAP. For me, they were just sending it from Montreal to Ottawa, which would have likely only taken a day regardless of whether it was express or not.The package contained my passport (with temp visa inside), x-rays, medical, the package for USCIS to open at point of entry and a few notes saying how to pay the last immigration fee before travelling and not to open the USCIS package.
Hope that timeline helps a bit. Sorry to hear about your plans possibly needing to be post-poned. I'm sure you'll get it soon and then you can have your awesome wedding!

Honestly it's a hit or miss.

Mine took exactly one week from Montreal receiving documents to having passport in hand, but my case was A LOT quicker than most.

Sept 22nd - Recieved 221g for documents (really for another cosponsor and their documents)
Nov 2nd (Mon)- Sent Documents via loomis
Nov 3rd (Tues)- Documents delivered to Montreal
Nov 4th (Wed)- Case changed from AP to READY
Nov 6th (Fri)- Case changed from immigrant READY to non Immigrant READY then to Non Immigrant AP
Nov 9th (Mon)- Case changed from Non Immigrant AP to ISSUED
Nov 10th (Tues) - Passport with visa and sealed envelope picked up.

I'd say for K1, you're looking anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks. Christmas and New Years will mess things up for sure though.

So it looks like it took a total of about 10 business days for you? That's awesome! It will be 6 business days for me today since they received the passport. I am assuming the 25/26 were write offs because of the Thanksgiving holiday? So that would mean hopefully late next week we should receive some news!!! Thank you:)

Seems about that, a bit more. I definitely assumed they didn't work on the US holidays. Everyone's case seems to be different in terms of timelines, but hope you get yours soon!

Hi, Everyone

After reading everyone post from Aug 2015 I wanted to join and keep you guys update as much as I can, at the same I am running out of patience of when would I get a ceac(refused) refresh from the site and my passport back.

Looking at few scenarios, some still waiting while others got the passport back within 2-3 weeks

My story, I-601 and I-212 were approved on Oct 29 Consulate sent me an email instructions after receiving the approval notices on Nov 23rd requesting to send passport, new medical, new police certificate.

Required documents sent on Dec 3 via Canada Post Express, Dec 4th package shows it was delivered base on my hand write at 315 Place d'Youville Suite 500 and so far no update yet

My question, Is the mailing site correct? Should I email the embassy to ask if they receive my documents?

Ninjamax, you probably going to get it tomorrow that is for sure..

Thank you for your response, and hope everyone gets the visa before the holidays.
