Original signatures

Ok, so I was just told that an ORIGINAL signature is required on our I-134, that a signed, scanned, and emailed doc will NOT work. Is this still correct? If so, what other docs require ORIGINAL signature, if any? I am doing all of this while deployed, so want to make sure I send all the right stuff to my lady in the PI.

Hoping that with digital technology, some of the archaic rules are being changed.

Thanks in advance!

All the forms require original signatures, letter of intent requires original signature. Really anything that requires a signature should be an original unless it is a requested copy.

It is because of this reason they require original signatures. With digital technology, anyone can copy and paste signatures on federal documents.

Actually, quite the opposite is true. With a digital signature, the person signing must have the digital certificate, as well as the password for it. NO ONE can duplicate my digital signature, but it's not that hard to forge my pen/ink signature. I'm not talking about signing and scanning, I mean an actual digital certificate. It's how I log into computers, sign documents, etc.

This would apply if these documents were sent electronically.

However, the majority of applicants send their documents using hard copies. With these hard copies, ANYONE can duplicate your signature (ie signing and scanning, as you mentioned).

Ok, so I-134 requires original signature, plus the high cost and slow delivery associated with sending to the PI. Back to the original question... what other doc(s) require an original signature, so I can send them all at once?

all documents that you had to sign in the first place. there shouldnt be any others for the interview except the I-134 and letter of intent to marry from reading the packet 3 for manila embassy.

Read the packet 3 here: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_001.pdf

Unless I am missing something, the letters of intent to marry were in the original packet that went to USCIS. Nowhere does it mention re-doing those letters for the interview that I can find. The 3 DS forms and the I-134 all require signatures. Korect?

Dave...The petitioner fills out and signs the I-134 and an updated letter of intent to marry. The beneficiary fills out and signs the DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-157, as well as their own updated letter of intent to marry.

I see where people are saying that you need letters of intent to marry (again), but it's not required in the PDF mentioned from the USEM. I wonder if people are just trying to go above and beyond?

your right that it's not a required document, but still is a good idea. it shows continued intention of getting married. many choose to include it as part the the evidence of their relationship.

from packet...

k. EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to show documents that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry. Letters, e-mails, phone records, bank records, photographs, or other evidence of a genuine fiancé(e) relationship should be submitted.

Now, I a just a poor country white boy. But It would seem to me, that submitting a K1 Visa with all the other paperwork turned in (Including a Intent to Marry, I-134, Etc) would serve as an updated intent to marry.

I agree...you're certainly "country," and your command of written English is "poor." However, either you're lying now or you were lying in another one of you're posts when you claimed to be of mixed heritage. Which one is a lie?

Also, please stop posting misinformation. No one "submits" a K-1 visa.
