CARSON, California – With thousands of balikbayan boxes reportedly undelivered, viewers have written to Balitang America looking for answers.

Some Ace Cargo customers say they’ve tracked their boxes in the Philippines. The boxes are supposedly being held at Customs because Ace has allegedly not paid for the release. Ace Cargo has since been sued by their agents.

The Pilipino American Shippers Association (PASA), a group of cargo companies trying to clean up their industry, said customers can file a claim for their boxes with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).

“The FMC will be able help them get in touch with Ace Cargo, but if they’re not able to get in touch with them, they will help you by filing a claim with the surety bond which Ace probably had because they were bonded in 2010,” explained PASA member JB Carino of Forex Cargo.

Two other viewers who weren’t Ace customers said their boxes have also been detained. PASA said companies would co-load to fill up container. Several companies had combined their deliveries with Ace in the past two years.

PASA said they are hearing about a new concern. Because of warehouse space filling up with unpaid boxes, Philippine Customs has been auctioning the boxes to business people.

“The best thing to do is try to find out what container your box was in and maybe the Philippine customs will be able tell you who bought the container where your boxes were and you can deal with the person who bought it most of the time I heard you can get your box for a thousand pesos,” advised Carino.

Customers have up to three years to file their claims with the Federal Maritime Commission. The FMC can be reached at 202-523-5728 or online at www.fmc.gov.

We had a company like this one in Hawaii, ‘Angel Freight’ out of business or filed for bankruptcy they to failed to let their customers know. Customers who sent packages as far back as November '08 have not been able to verify receipt of their packaged to their loved ones in the PI. Angel Freight guarantees 30 days shipping. I was one of the lucky ones. After calling the owner many times and demanding my box back or delivering it, got the same old stories. With a lot-a bitchiness on my part 72 days later my wife got it. From what I understand it was sitting in the PI for some time! I now only use LBC

We've just sent a BB box to Davao through Atlas. I hope Atlas is more reliable than Ace Cargo.

Bill, your avatar suggests that Romney will crush Obama in 2012!

Greetings AJ. My avatar is a comment on the 2010 elections. Who knows what the fickle electorate will do when the first Tuesday in November 2012 arrives, or who will be the standard bearer of either party.

A Romney/Bachmann ticket looks formidable. Down with the burros!
