I'm still a Republican

It's just a discussion, PH. Ultimately, I will decide what to do, but there's nothing wrong with asking for the constructive input of others.

No such option here

I'm spot on about Islam, too  Conservatives, like Muslims, are increasingly defined by their lowest common denominators and not by their critical thinkers. I can't buy nor sell that.

On VJ? YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!

Sure, a discussion about what the conservative party is, why not? To define that discussion in terms of 'omg, I have to leave the GOP now because' well, that's pretty dramatic and that's exactly what VJ does best, drama not constructive criticism.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Come on, sis, get with the program :D The question has been posed, I'm not going to take it back. I've enjoyed the feedback so far, and haven't detected any drama from anyone but you and Gary, and you definitely can do better than Gary.

Be that as it may, why do you have to leave the GOP at all? Surely you get that being conservative is valid regardless of whether you agree with all your fellow GOP party members on every issue or not?

Their public positions run counter to my freedoms and self-interest. When I go to register for conservative events, the event material make it clear that conservative = Christian, and anti-Muslim speakers fill the roster. I can't even operate within the party when that's what's happening's. I'm not surprised that even Jews tend to shy away from the GOP despite all their pro-Israel rhetoric.

Why do you care who is in office? How does it affect your life?My life hasn't gone up/down a smidgen since Obama was elected or since the Republicans won big in last election. Has yours? If not, then who cares.

well I bet it has changed you just haven't noticed yet  .. unless you don't drive or eat.. inflation well soon start eating into your wages also.. don't forget the tax hikes coming down the tubes.. I disagree with much of the GOP platform.. but they are for smaller government  and just think of all the red tape delaying our Visas :bonk:

Don't vote for anyone who associates himself or herself with the Republican-Democrat Regime.

If there's no viable candidate who is not a Republican-Democrat regimer, you have two choices:

  1. don't vote at all
  2. vote for the lesser of two evils

My personal choice is (1). I will never vote for anyone who calls himself Republican or Democrat.

P.S. A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil

which of these is the smaller? if you picked the one on the right, then you picked the lesser of two weevils. :hehe:

If true, that's toxic. Religious affiliation is supposed to be a personal freedom in the US, not a condition for being a member of a political party. There is nothing wrong with being a religious conservative but there is everything wrong with demanding everyone who is a conservative is a paid up member of the 'approved' christian denomination.

I don't advocate not voting ever. Spoiling the ballot paper is the best option if there is no candidate that you can bring yousrelf to vote for. Not participating in the electoral process is affiliating with apathy.

There are very few evil American politicians, if any. That is not to say that they are all 'good' but to describe voting for the politician one least objects to as voting for evil in the US is hyperbolic nonsense.

Folks generally run for public office with the best of intentions. I just don't always support what it is they intend to do.

Inflation? I haven't noticed any inflation. Maybe you mean deflation

June 2010: The Fed's toughest foe: Deflation

I had an econ class about a year ago but I didn't really retain much. There is a curve that has spending on one axis and inflation on another axis. There are 4 stages of the curve. The stage we are in right now (no/slow growth / recession) shows that the government could spend whatever it wants and you wouldn't have any inflation. That is exactly where I thought we were at today.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

No reason why you should either, but that doesn't make them evil, nor the things that they do universally rotten or bad. However, griping about the system but not participating in can never have a positive outcome.
