Hey everyone,

I am really hoping to get some advice on this issue because I am worried out of my mind.

9 years ago I drove into the US with some friends to do some travelling prior to beginning college in Canada (I'm Canadian.) We crossed at the border with our birth certificates and id's, and were not given an I-94 or anything stating a date of return. I ended up staying just under 2 years with some friends of my family. I did not work, or get into any trouble, I was living off money my parent sent me.

After about 2 years I flew back home to Canada and began college.

Now, 7 years after leaving, I have a vacation planned to go back next week for 10 days. Will I have a problem? Do you think I will be barred from entry? How would there be a record of my stay?

Now although you don't get an I-94 I don't think you can plead not knowing as 2 years is a bit much to stay on any non immigrant entrance....

It is likely they do know, and by leaving you triggered a ban of 10 years.

England.gif England!

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, You make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

How were canadians tracked prior to passport implementation? People were waved through constantly without showing proof of anything back then. How do they know I didnt leave and enter 20 times in that 2 year period?

It wasn't until recent years that Canadian's needed passports to enter the US. Most times they just asked for drivers license and glanced at it and let you go. Same coming back to Canada. I doubt very much that anything was recorded on either end.

If you didn't work or do anything... do they have any record of you being there? If you didn't use a passport and didn't have anything stamped...?

Canadians are admitted D/S usually.

If they knew about it, they might question your intent, I doubt very much they would.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
