My husband just told me he sent the I-130 petition today and now I'm reading about people checking ups.com? Did we already make a mistake by sending it via usps?

Oh my... :(

USPS is an apparatus of United States of America Government; just as USCIS is. If anything, sending via USPS would be preferable over UPS or FedEX. You can request, for a fee, return receipt with all of your USPS mail. You can also request tracking number. For obsessive compulsive disorder folks like us, having this is essential to keeping our sanity. :P

N400 CITIZENSHIP STAGE

23-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form mailed to Dallas, TX Lockbox (USPS EXPRESS)

27-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form delivered/picked up by USCIS

01-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form fee check cashed by USCIS

04-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form received per NOA1

09-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 notice date

14-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 on hand through USPS

30-JAN-2017 -:- N400 fingerprint taken

01-FEB-2017 -:- N400 interview schedule process started

26-JUL-2017 -:- N400 interview date set (01SEP2017)

29-JUL-2017 -:- N400 interview letter on hand

01-SEP-2017 -:- N400 interview date - Interview passed

10-OCT-2017-:- N400 oath ceremony letter on hand (oath on 26OCT2017)

You might want to think to add in Form G-1145G with yer I-130 petition submittal -

It 'gives you' electronic notification that the casefile was received. IMO, removes much worry.

USCIS page for download - http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=d9056d4e88ac3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Ya, I'm posting this in the pinned topic.

The approval for the I-130 can take anywhere from 3-6 months depending on the service center you sent it to. It doesn't matter if your wife has a good job or not, it all depends on the amount of petitions they received and how quickly they can process each one.

Check other people's timelines who filed the same petition to the same service center to get an idea how long it took them to get an approval. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/filterlist.php?cfl=

Hi there,

I've just read over the supporting documents needed to file with the I-130 outlined in this pinned thread...

(It's somewhere in the "how to assemble the I-130 packet" info I think...)

On the list here, it has crossed out the intended benefiary's birth certificate and notes that this documet is no longer required..

However, in an e-mail I received from the US Consulate here in Vancouver, Canada, it lists this as required...

(granted, that e-mail was from a couple months ago...)

Does anyone know which one is correct..? <img src="http://www.visajourney.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

(I am the beneficiary...My Husband is American. But I would rather NOT have to wait to order a long-form birth certificate, which would take who-knows-how-long to receive, before filing the I-130... I want him to file the I-130 sooner than later:-))

Thanks in advance for any help!

i ordered my long birth certificate Sept 22/10 and it took 10 days

is there any difference if your sponsor is a US military?

No. As long as your sponsor makes enough to support you, it really doesn't matter if he/she is in the military or not.

With the I-864 it's only 100% over the proverty line for military verses 125% for reg. people. Plus if the petitioner is military he/she can file from anywhere in the world. Far as I know that the only two benefits...
