Hello Everyone,

I'm a U.S. Citizen by birth (both parents are Haitian) and married my husband who is from Jamaica. He came here through the K-1 Fiance Visa about 10 years ago and finally got his citizenship last week Friday (March 18, 2011). Presently I'm in the process of filing for his mother and little brother. I actually just sent the I-130 petition for both this morning. Hoping everything goes smoothly. Happy to be here on this board.

Thank you!!! They both have tourist visa's and travels back and forth on occassion but decided to stay in Jamaica for the filing (everyone is saying it's smarter to do it that way). So we've applied for his mother and 9 year old brother. I'm hoping he gets to come with her since he's only 9. Not sure how that process goes.

Correct it is easier when the applicant is in his/her country. Question to you/him... WHY did he file for his 9 year old brother..? That was a waste of money.... The parent could have done that....!

Wouldn't she have to pay that amount sooner or later when she applied for him years later? I don't get how it's a waste of money, especially when the fees is going up annually? Please expand.

I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to rush you for a response.

I know what you mean regarding it will be quicker because of the filing categories, however, I was told most likely she'll get through, and since they were filed together, they will let him come through as well, as long as everything is on the up and up with the paperwork. Is that incorrect?

Also, if she was to file for him she'd be a permanent resident at that point, so it will take long as well. So many conficting information. :help:

This question maybe best answered in about 10 months when the parent is here so we can see where the visa bulletin stands with the F2A category.

Currently it id taking 3 to 4 years to completion
