Guys,

Is it possible for me (UK resident) to come to hte USA for more than a 3 month stay? I plan to staty for the ski season this coming winter.

I have enough funds and will not be looking to work. I am aware the VWp is only 90 days and cannot be extended.

Is tehre any way this is do-able?

Similar thread 2 days back answered it, you can visit the ski slopes have vaccation for 3 months on B2, but you will not be able to work.

You could be questioned why you want 90 days and why you cannot enjoy the ski slopes in 30 days that you have on VWP.

NO. VWP is VERY different from a B2. You can't use those terms interchangeably.

OP - You cannot extend your VWP, although you could apply for a B2 which would give you 6 months' stay. You would need to have a good reason why you need to travel for six months (or at least longer than three), and have strong ties to the UK to show that you would come back. If you are denied your B2, then you cannot use the VWP any longer and would need to reapply for the B2 tourist visa. Good luck.

There is no hard and fast rule, though I would think any attempt at reentry after a full 3 months stay would be given further scrutiny (especially if there was only a few weeks in between). You are right, you cannot reset the clock by going to Canada.

I think you have a good chance for B2, and it would save you the hassle of flying around. Good luck.

Harpa - please read before making comment, nowhere on the post is mentioned VWP and B2 are similar.

I mean OP has posted a similar thread couple days back and all was answered in details.

If you read my post I say, that he would be questioned why he need B2 over VWP - which means they are different.... :)

Okay, but you said he can visit for 3 months on B2. Usually B2 is given 6 months. Sounds like you are talking about the VWP at that point, which gives 3 months.

Fortunately 90 days covers the best of the ski season, use the VWP.

Harpa - there is no gurantee one can get 6 months on B2 - it is upto officer on POE max is 6 months and min could be as less as 1 week.

As the OP said he wanted to stay for 3 months, I said yes you can stay for 3 months on B2 :)

If you are between 18 and 28 and a full time college or university student then there are several programs available for you to work in the US - some seasonal work at ski resorts included. Here's one website which offers such programs - and you would be able to google several others http://www.interexchange.org/content/183/en/Frequently%20Asked%20Questions%20About%20Working%20in%20USA%20with%20Work%20&%20Travel%20USA.htmljj
