hello all!

I am a US citizen and live in Bali Indonesia. i have been living here for 3 years and have a family kitas sponsored by my wife. we have been invited to my brothers wedding in June and we are planning on attending the wedding and doing a bit of sightseeing before we come back (less then 3 weeks). I have jobs in Australia and the Philippians lined up after the wedding as I am a photographer. we tried to get a tourist visa before we were married and got denied (not enough ties to Indonesia) and i did not have a KITAS at the time, just a social visa. we have a paid 5 year contract on our house, bank accounts, credit cards, motor bikes, bills, a dog, and her family all here in bali. everything is in her name. is there reason to fear getting rejected again? any tips on what we can do to be successful in obtaining the visa for my wife? thank you for you time, i would appreciate any and all help you may be able to give!

Sadly, it is tough for a Thai woman to get a visa to the US, let alone one married to a USC, because of a history of visa fraud

You sound like you have good ties, bring plenty of evidence

Good luck

my friend is in the same situation as me and is married to an indonesian woman. they have got the tourist visa twice with no problem. what other road can i take so i can show my wife my country, meet my friends and go my brothers wedding. its frustrating to think that as a citizen, its so difficult to bring my wife to see where i grew up. we dont want to live in the states. we are happy here in bali. thanks

She has no right to be in the US - even as the wife of a citizen. So you may think that it is unfair and you are being treated unjustly as a US citizen, but until things change, she'll need lots of ties to Indonesia (sorry, I said Thailand before)

Good luck

By all means bring them, I cannot, nor can anyone say what they will look at or put stock behind

Good luck

will they look at my ties to indonesia? house, motor cycles, dog, Kitas(permanent resident visa) bank account in indonesia etc??? thanks

Her ties, not yours, are the ones that matter.

Why would buying land be a tie?

owning land outside the US is one of the criteria i was told to prove ties to her home country. as well as having a child that will not travel to the states among other things.

with what has happened with Bin Laden, will the process become that much more difficult?

I own land outside the US and have lived here for 6 years.

The child left behind, now that makes sense.

She was granted a tourist visa! what should we know about entering the US? she has health insurance for the trip (for travel to the US), a return ticket to Bali, invitation letter from my family, $1500 cash, my fathers address where we will be staying. anything else she should bring? what questions should she expect? we will be on differant flights and i will not be able to go through immigration with her. any help would be appreciated.

thanks

oh, and for the record, it was my ties that they checked on when interviewing much more then hers. they did not look at any of her financial docs, or work documents. the documents that were looked at were her passport, the invitation letter from my father as well as the my brothers wedding invitation, my Kitas(Indonesian resident card), and our marriage certificate.

we had a full affidavit of support filled out by my father with all supporting documents (1 inch thick!) and it was not looked at. nor was my financial documents, proof of leased property, or any other docs besides the ones listed above.

also, in Surabaya, they no longer allow a US citizen spouse to accompany the applicant. this is new as far as i know since i was allowed in the 1st interview when she was my fiance 1.5 years ago.

i guess the third time was a charm.
