My daughter has an interview on the 11th. I know she has to go to St Lukes hospital and have medical. I wonder, since i already submitted and affidavit of support and all information from the philippines - like her police clearances, nbi clearance, birth certificates and they should be forwarded to the embassy, just what will she need to bring to the interview besides her photos & philippine passport? What questions do they usually ask step children? She is 19. I also wanted to know if they send her visa back home to davao via goexpress, then she will have to come back to manila again to get her her philippines overseas stamp and attend councelling session right? I wish she could get that in Davao, it'd sure be easier.

Any help thanks.

She will need a completed DS-230 form. Yes, you already submitted one...but they will ask one again. IMHO, it is safe to have original NSO documents and NBI clearance with you during the interview. It is not required, but sometimes they ask...especially if it's missing from their file.

When is she planning for her medical? She should go as early as now. She would need to bring her passport and a copy of approval letter or NVC letter having NVC case number. They will forward her passport to the Embassy. After her successful interview, they will mail the passport (with visa) to her via 2GO courier service.

When we (my wife, stepdaughter and I) had our interview, the CO didn't ask many questions regarding my stepdaughter. Most of the questions were: What do you (petitioner) and your wife do for a living? Where did you and your wife meet? When did you get married? I think the only question the CO asked my daughter was: What grade are you in? That's it. The questions may be different in your case, especially if you or the petitioner aren't at the interview.

Yes, she'll be required to attend the CFO seminar. It's required for emigrants. No, she doesn't need to go to Manila. She can attend the CFO seminar in Cebu City, if she likes.

Good luck with your daughter's medical and interview! Wishing you the best! Keep us posted!

Thanks for that information. I will go ahead and send her up to manila with her mother to get her medical examination this week. They already have her original documents supposedly - including nbi clearance, police reports, NoMar and birth certificate. Documents were sent to NVC. Hopefully, they will have all her medical finished by the time she has her interview. I wonder how long it takes for them to send the visa once it is approved? Thanks for your advise!

Typically, medical exams take two days. First day is medical history, physical exam (including chest xray). Second day is immunizations (if chest xray is normal).

Once her visa is approved, it takes 1-2 weeks to receive...depending if she lives close to Manila or in the provinces. Visas are usually delivered faster for locations closer to Manila. My stepdaughter received her visa 11 days after her interview (she lives in the provinces).

Good luck with your case!

I always advice to remove the passport and check the visa stamp for any errors. If there are errors, go back to US Consulate immediately for annotations regarding those errors and then go to CFO seminar.
