Walk in biometrics in Boston?

Has anyone here done their biometrics as a walk in at the Boston office? I've read here that some have done it in other states with success and others have been turned away. I believe people said not to go on a Monday or Friday for best chances of success. Any info would be appreciated.

I am wondering the same thing about the Detroit office, so I am bumping this thread.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I hope someone from their experience at Boston/Detroit can share.

We tried it for my mom for Citizenship biometrics at Charlotte office in Nov 2010. They were bit hesitant but let her take it early eventually. We were just polite and told them that she was planning to be out of town for thanksgiving (her appointment was on 23rd of Nov). They told us to come back in 30mins to see if we can get it done early.

Sorry I didn't upadate this. We went a few days early to Boston and when we walked in the place was packed. The security guy said he was sorry but they were too busy to squeeze us in. So I said, how about if we come back toward the end of the day and check again. He said come back at 3 but made no promises. We went back at 2:45 and there were only about 6 people there. The same guy was there in front of his office as we walked in, I looked over at him and he nodded and waved us to the desk. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes. I went over to him while my wife was having her biometrics done and thanked him and told him I really appreciated him fitting us in. He said I know you do and you're most welcome.

This is the second time we have gone early and we were accommodated both times. I explained that we were in the city for other business and took a chance on stopping by. I must say that I have been most impressed with the Boston office both times we have been there. The people have been friendly, helpful and efficient. Great job! I even asked if there was a way for me to leave favorable feedback for him and the office and as it turned out there is a customer service rating form they give the applicant to fill out when the biometrics are done. Needless to say, my wife gave them a well deserved excellent rating to each question.

One thing I noticed is that most of the employees at the Application Support Center were immigrants themselves. Perhaps that is why they were polite and helpful as they had been thru this process themselves.

Anyway, to make a short story long, it is a bit of pot luck if you can do an early walk in and I would think that it varies from office to office. The girl at the front desk told me there workload varies from day to day, sometimes 12 appointments per hour sometimes 7 or less and that they don't know from day to day how busy they will be. I also think that if they get too many walk ins then they will stop allowing it. It just worked out easier for us as we were in town for other business both times. Hopefully too many people won't abuse it so they stop doing it.

Good job Boston!

I agree about the folks working at the Boston ASC. Always friendly and accommodating.

I see you just finished the citizenship process. Congratulations!! I'll probably have a few questions for you about the citizenship process, if you don't mind.

Ceremony was last month at Fanueil Hall. A nice venue for it.

Glad to answer anything I can.

Thank you, Spooky. I have a feeling Detroit is going to be an @zz about it, unlike Boston.
