Seriously why do you bother posting ? To waste bandwidth ? You never lived up here in Alaska or you would have a clue on the Native Claims Act of '72. I work in the oil and construction fields. Native company's get a free ride on those bids.

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&site=&source=hp&q=missouri+senator+alaska+native+corporations+small+business&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=a5a5e531dae2a784 <------ Read and learn

btw the free ride for the native corporations in regards to getting all the no bid federal contracts comes to an end next year. :)

I not only know of the Act, I worked on it when I worked on Capital Hill in the 70's, or have you missed my posts over the years re how I started my legal career in Native American law? And, I did live in Juneau. Still own property there.

BTW, teachers in the villages get free houses, too.

That's the best you can come up with ? Do you have any idea how much money it takes to run a native corporation hospital ? And no the employee's do not get free housing. Teachers may, but the rest like doctors, dentist, security, maintenance, nurses, etc... do not. Free medical for the natives, spendy ####### medical for the non native employees working there. Now start doing the cost write up on flying medical and dental teams out to the villages...villages of populations of 100 or less with brand new medical buildings that get used twice a year. Brand new houses for said villagers yet they look like total dumps after a year or two from abuse.

No interest loans on fishing permits that cost $100,000 or more, and if they make the payments for five straight years they are forgiven on the rest of the loan. I can go on and on and on. What Iv'e mentioned on this thread is just the tip of the ice burg.

All natives that fly into Anchorage or any other city that has a medical center get free air fair, and most everyone out here gets to and fro with boat, plane, or snow mobile.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Funny you did work on that, because from your post on this thread it's like you don't have a bloody clue.

When I wasn't teaching in Japan, I researched fishing license claims for an admin law judge at ADF&G. The licenses are free to the qualified. Then, they can be worth plenty, but the Feds don't pay for Natives to get them.

Not really. You just don't recognize reason coz you prefer bigoted rants as sources of knowledge.

Tell us about the Cobell Trust, Mr. Indian expert.

.....along with the millions of Americans that never had one iota to do with what happened several hundred years ago and are paying for it regardless.

You and why_me do understand the vast wealth created for the nation and it's citizens via the appropriation of resources belonging to the Native Americans? The wealth it continues to generate?

It isn't about guilt. It's about the way things were done, and the government to government relationship tribes have with the Federal government.

Stop whining and realize who actually got the short end in all aspects of the deal.

When I wasn't teaching in Japan, I researched fishing license claims for an admin law judge at ADF&G. The licenses are free to the qualified. Then, they can be worth plenty, but the Feds don't pay for Natives to get them.

I'm talking about "Commercial fishing license"...they are worth big money. Natives get subsistance fishing and hunting, but in order to sell salmon, halibut, crab, etc... commercially they have to have a license like the rest of us. Except they get close to a free ride on theirs, to where we get totally hosed on ours.

I'm not denying the natives in this hemisphere got major screwed...up here it was the Russians hosing them. But when do we stop paying for it ? This country is broke, and it doesn't affect them one bit.

If we were to pull out of Alaska and take our technology with us, these natives would be screwed. They would lose their cell phones, gps, ninspendo's, snow mobiles, yamaha boat motors, etc....

Then you pay for them. Pay for their tickets to Anchorage where they take their government checks and blow them on booze, drugs, and new electronic toys. Tell the Feds you want more taken out of your check and given to the natives up here. I'm sure they won't put it to good use.

I'm referring to commercial licenses, too. The state does not sell them, individuals do, and the arrangement is between the seller and the buyer. A Native Corporation may help a Native buy a license if he can't qualify for one thru the state, but the Feds don't do that.

And where do you think the corporations get their money...the corporations that aren't oil rich...like the one where I'm at atm...Bristol Bay Native Corp.

Here's the interesting thing about Alaska, drunkenness, debauchery, shiftlessness and government dependency are not limited to Natives. I saw plenty of bad behavior up there. In Juneau, the shelter for battered women is huge, and a lot of fishermen receive welfare off season. I knew more people there that were ex cons than I've met anywhere else. Incest is rampant, trailer park culture the norm.

But, that's not just the Natives.

I remember Bristol Bay well. A lot of licensing fraud there.

Alaska Natives aren't the only Native Americans and it sounds like you're more than a bit prejudiced. You do understand the history, why so many behave in a manner you despise? Or are you completely ignorant of the full story? Don't care?

Hell, on one trip, I wasn't there a month before my nephews best friend was murdered in front of him just a few minutes after they left my house. That was my first legal consult there to get him immunity. That was the murder that year; the only one. The murderer was kicked out of the state. That's all.

You're going with "the lazy brown people want to steal our wimmin?" Seriously?

Stealing women is part of the Eskimo culture. After they steal them they make the women pee on the sled runners.

it freezes and makes the get away faster. I'd give you a link but I'm too lazy to look for one.
