Hello, i am new to this great site and decided to join to get some information regarding the DV lottery.

My wife and i are from the Uk and we were both born in the UK, My wifes mother is an Irish citizen and passport holder, she was born in Ireland and moved to the UK before my wife was born. question is are we eligible to apply for the DV lottery using my wifes mothers Country of birth which is an eligible Country?

I am a time served Plumber here in the Uk and my wife works in the aerospace industry.

My wife has cousins who live in the USA and also has an Uncle who lives in Canada.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards

L

No-ish.

You can only apply with you or your wife's citizenship (if you were both eligible, you could both apply), which from what I understand is currently UK only. You cannot apply yourself. However, your wife may have a claim to Irish citizenship. If so, once she has an Irish passport, she can apply; you and any children would be derrivatives.

No, as far as I know- it's purely a lottery whether you get in, and while being processed, all that matters is that you both have a basic education and the means to support your move financially.

Over 18 million apply , 50 k get visas and about 1/3 are reserved for specific under represented countries. The winner must meet educational/work requirements. Due to the fact you are unlikely to ever win you should have an alternate plan.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
