:crying: You ever get frustrated when you mention where your fiance is from and then all the most horrible stories they can think of come into their minds to tell you. Drives me crazy my Fiance is from India and oh my goodness the horrid stories people tell. Not to mention a grandma who has decided to ignored her grand daughter now because she is destroying the white blood... Does this happen to other people? Luckily my parents love him and most importantly I love him with all my heart! But it bothers me and I don't want these stupid stories running around when my Jatin gets here. I never knew how much racsiam there is in this world until you fall in love with a foreigner.. Its crazy I can handle it but, can anyone advise me on how to help Jatin prepare for it... Its so crazy seriously hopeing when we marry he gets his american citizenship we can go take a long vacation in India before we will have to deal with this again... but unfortunatly will be two years before we can go to India..We love each other so much just wish this world would take off the color glasses and look and see how much we love each other would make life so much simplier.....

Sincerly a fiancee in waiting,

Christina

Nope, I never get that...but then again, my boo is English, so I don't think there's that 'stigma'

Most ppl think of Hugh Grant, Tony Blair, Big Ben & accents & they get all gushy...

or prince charles

Geez, that really is a nuisance...I suggest you put a bullet in your head; you'll no longer have to deal with day to day superficial nonsense... But, then again perhaps you can be happy that people have enough interest to ask a few queations; regardless of how dumb you think they are :P

Wow god forbid she ask a serious question that she is struggling with. Those of you who are from or who's SO are from W. European countries probably don't have to deal with any of these issues. To the OP - I think for the most part it gets better, some people think they are just "looking out" for you and esp if they have never met your SO they are more inclined to pre-judge. For the most part however this goes away after they have the chance to meet them and see you together. However that's not to say everyone's opinions change. For example my grandpa who was more like a second father to me always told me that if I ever married someone who 1) Wasn't American and 2) was not white he would not come to our wedding nor would he talk to me anymore. Once he met my now husband and saw us together his attitude totally changed. He was also the one who made sure that I had my dream wedding which wouldn't have been possible without his help. So don't give up hope yet! Hang in there.
