We want to bring my husbands niece and nephew over for 2 weeks this summer for a visit from Morocco. I know some of you have done this and I am hoping you can give me an idea of how long the visa takes and any tips on what to send to them for their interview to help them get it. We're paying all of their expenses to get here and while they're here.

Thanks!

My MIL came for 5 months last year. It was very easy for her to get the visa. From the time we submitted the online application to the time she had the visa in hand was about 3 weeks. To the interview she brought a copy of the title to her house and an invitation letter that we sent along with copies of our recent paystubs. We stated in the letter that we would be providing financially for her entire stay. I also emailed a copy of the letter with the paystubs directly to the consulate, but I don't know if that was necessary. My husband's uncle also applied for and received the visa at the same time, but he has not used it yet. Both of them are over 60.

You might run into more difficulty getting tourist visas for young, single relatives, especially males. Are these niece and nephew adults?

Much better if they can show they can pay their own way.

It is their application, not a lot to do with you.

Thanks Jenn. His nephew is 15 and his niece is about 24. She's a nurse and has a good job, and is also studying at the university so could show that she is registered for fall term and needs to be back for that. We are worried they won't get them, but want to at least try before he's too old. We're having my son and his girlfriend come down from Portland, and hoping my oldest son can get his 3 year old for that time period, so we can get everyone together for a big family get-together.

Did you use a template of a letter from here, or something or just write one on your own. Anything special we should say?

This is what we sent, I believe I used something that I had found here and replaced info as appropriate. Good luck! I think your niece has a better chance than your nephew. The stronger the ties they can show to Morocco, the better.

I will personally make sure that they leave the United States before the expiration of their authorized stay. I will also personally make sure that they will not become public charges on the part of United States government.

I have included year-to-date pay information from myself and three recent paystubs from my wife, Jennifer _____, to show that our income is sufficient to support Mrs. ____ and Mr. ____ during their stay with us. Our combined annual income is _______.

I respectfully request you to grant my mother and uncle visitor’s visas. We are very excited for my mother to meet her new grandson and my uncle his grandnephew.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the issuance of the visas.

Yours Sincerely,

Ouadia _____

I have a question - do you have to pay the fee in advance at the BCMI or can you pay the day of the interview. The page on the consulate's website says both, believe it or not. Under "Making an Appointment" it says to pay in advance. On the sidebar under "What to bring" it says to bring the visa fee the day of. *grumble grumble*

eta: never mind I see it says to bring a receipt that it's been paid. Is this just for the tourist visa? My husband didnt have to pay in advance when he applied for the K1. hmm...

My in laws and 16 year old brother in law all got 10 year visas in 2 weeks. We didn't send anything, just submitted the application for them. You do have to pay the fee in advance at the bank. Good luck! I can't wait to show everyone around in June when they come over :)

I would have them go in the morning before their interview, I'm sure the banks will be open then.

Let me be a little stupid and ask, how do you submit the application for them?

Ok, so that must be the DS 160 form? Did you completely fill out the form for your MIL? My MIL would not be able to read it or complete any of it. Also my MIL only speaks Arabic, do you think that would be a problem?

all tourist visa apps are now only done online
