USCIS Case status page is dead wrong

I got an RFE Friday, and turned it around as fast as I could, took a half day off work yesterday to print some photos and send the response out to CSC by USPS Express Mail.

However, the web page where I can login in at www.uscis.gov shows my application was last touched 10/18/2010. But if I got an RFE mailed to me on 3/14, that can't be correct.

Is there a precedent for this? Should I delete that account, and chew my fingernails instead of checking it obsessively for updates?

Although I have seen them doing a better job of updating my status for I-485 and I-765, they never updated my web page nor emailed me when I filed my I-129F.

I think you are stressing a little too much and should not overreact. Relax a little. I have read many postings where people said their pages were never updated and for I-129F I was one of them.

Good luck.

elingeniero, I am checking our case status more than 3times a day however the first and the last date shown that it was updated was dated October 3, 2010. I don't know what's going on. I have read some threads that some of the vjs got their NOA2 without even touch. So Audy_Rob is right  . Just relax. Don't panic. Everything will alright. :D

might as well.we got approved on the 130th day ( most of the cases from CSC get approved a good 20 days before the 5 months mark ) ,and guess what,we found out nearly a month later, and received our noa 2 a month and two weeks after we got approved.

i emailed CSC to tell em we are over the five months mark and they told me we have been approved and that our case is at nvc already.by the time we got noa 2 and nvc letter ( both at the same time, plus, get this,we got two noa 2s ) our case was at embassy

Avoid putting your faith in the Online Case Status, as others above have said. In fact, I was once told by an Immigration Officer that if every case were to be updated every time there was an update, it would definitely crash the computer system.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Someone just the other day stated that the Website isn't run by USCIS but an outside contractor. This person also pointed out that the website hadn't showed them any touches since the one after NOA1 and they already had their interview date. So, go figure that all out.... :bonk:

As already mentioned, do not put all your faith into it. I hope you get through your RFE and get on with your process.

Good Luck...!

In other words, the case status page is a waste of taxpayer money.

Got it.

I just hope we don't have to wait a full 60 days for our RFE to get handled. I see some people getting their P2 a week or so after they send in their RFE information. I just hope that holds for us.

Of all things, I got a text today, saying that my RFE response was being reviewed.

Case status page was updated to reflect that.

This is the day after they got the response which I sent via USPS Express Mail.

Sigh. NOA2 please come Real Soon Now.

It was always wrong for my status! A friend of mine got a letter saying "you're approved" honestly months after she had already been approved and moved to the U.S. Weird.

I have my visa & passport in hand, and my case status, as of last time I checked it (which I admit, was quite a while ago, since I don't care what it says now), still said "Initial Review".

Don't give it too much merit, as others have pointed out.

Well, im just wondering here ..... why did we sign up those accounts there if they dont do anything with them? How are we even going to get an e-mail notifications when obviously the whole site doesnt work?? Does that mean that im not even supposed to wait for a confirmation email in case we get the noa2? Or is it only going to be send to the petitioner? Well, thank you though... im about to stop checking it :) it is only making me stress anyhow.

Vermont is not processing anything obviously so why bother with the uscis site. They even may go back in time, and send pigeons instead emails

Good luck everyone!!!
