Good afternoon,

please any advice and comment will help. I filed for my fiance while she was still on her student visa in london hoping it will all be concluded in time before her graduation. Well, she graduated and is now back in nigeria since January. The london embassy has recieved the documents and has mailed out packet 3 to her address in London. She got a visiting visa to go to london so she can send in packet 3, but i was informed by the visa guy over the phone that since she does not live in the UK she might be cancelled and asked to do it from Nigeria. He suggested that we transfer it to the Embassy in Lagos and have her continue from there. My question is if we do this transfer from the London embassy to the lagos embassy, how long will that take? and also does that mean that the lagos embassy will continue the process from where london left off by sending packet 3 information? also how long does it take from this process with the Lagos Embassy? your responses will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all. :-)

Hello

I and my fiance had the same situation. My fiance was living in London with a student visa.We wanted to have our interview in Abu Dhabi. But the NVC just transferred his case to the embassy of London because he was there. We decided to change the embassy.Every time I contacted the embassy of London they told us they do not have our case.We contacted the embassy of Abu Dhabi they also did not have the case.I decided to talk to the congresswoman and explain this situation. Finally after four months they just forwarded our case from NVC to Abu Dhabi again and we got interview date by the e-mail. So for total of four months we waited. This was my own experience.

So should i just contact NVC and have the case transfered to Lagos? so as to not take 4 months? and also, did you have to fill out forms again to have the case transfered?

It depend where your case is? contact where you know your case is.If they transfer your case to London then you have to contact london if not contact NVC. Also our case was lost and because of that they had to transfer our file again from NCV to Abu Dhabi.I do no think I think you just have to contact them and ask them you want to have your interview in diffrent country. They will tell you what to do.

Thank you, our case is at the end, we have gotten the packet from the embassy for her to send documents in. I am worried that sending the case to Lagos from London will take like 3 months!!!!! we have wedding planned already :( I will contact the lagos embassy tomorrow and speak with them concerning transferring the case. If you have any other information i will greatly appreciate it.

It really depends on consulate. Sometimes it takes only a few days that they receive the case.BUT I think if you contact the embassy they provide you with the best iformation regarding to your case.
