Translations for Proof of Having Met in Person

Hey,

I am about to file our I-129F this week !!!! So excited !!!!

But some of my evidence of having met is in Spanish. The copy of my Cuban Visa, my receipt for my flight to Cuba, some withdraw receipts.

I read that because these are not "official documents" that I don't need a certified translation. Can I just have my friend (who is fluent in Spanish) write a letter saying she is fluent and have her translate these docs ? Or, do they even need to be translated ?

All of our emails and chats are in english because my partner is fluent as well.

They usually require "certified translations" just for the documents (and I don't think a letter from your friend will be enough ), I don't think it will be a problem if the Ticket receipt is in spanish.

Personally I had a couple of things in italian on the I-129 package, just as far as proofs of ongoing relationship..It shouldn't be a huge problem (in my opinion).

My understanding is you need to have someone certified to translate the documents.

Just press 2 for spanish.

Yeah, I mean they aren't anything official like divorce or birth certificates.

I understand that any government document needs to be certified and translated. These are doc.s related to our proof of having met in the last 2 years (so airline receipts, my cuban visa and some random receipts of things I bought in Cuba) I have other receipts and boarding passes that are in english. I don't have much evidence of my previous 3 trips. But I kept everything from this last trip. So i'm just a little nervous

I think you can provide your own translations of unofficial documents. I've also heard on these boards that if your friend can sincerely declare in writing, "I am fluent in both Spanish and English and I swear this is a true translation", that this is enough, even for the official documents, instead of paying an agency...

I submitted mine without having them translated and didn't have any trouble the only thing i translated was his birth certificate and his later on intent..anything else emails, passport and air tickets were submited without being translated..good luck
