I have filed the I-130 for my husband and it has been approved and sent to the NVC for processing,what I would like to know is,Is it possible to have a friend file the afadavit of support on behalf of my husband instead of me??..I have been at the same job for more than 1 year now but before that I was in school full time and could not find work,I was actually getting state assistance for a while and I know this is not going to help prove support for the previous 3 years..Any advice or ideas,please..

Yes, you can...

If you have a friend who is willing to do that, then yes. I had enough hassle trying to get someone to 'commit' to the affadavit of support for our little K1...

Alternatively - family members, if not your friend.

10/17/11.... refiled AP
10/18/11.... successful biometrics walk-in, Santa Ana, CA (appt for 11/1)
10/20/11.... NOA1 for AP
12/12/11.... call in to USCIS. Told to call back after 12/26.
12/23/11.... I-765 approved
02/1/12...... Interview
02/02/12.... Approved!
02/10/12.... Hubby's GC in hand!

12/09/13.... sent I-751 to CSC

12/10/13.... package delivered / NOA1

12/12/13.... cheque cashed

01/06/14.... biometrics

04/18/14.... approval letter dated (received 4/22)

 

Naturalization Journey

09/29/22.... filed N-400 online

09/30/22... NOA/biometrics reuse

01/23/23... interview scheduled for 02/28 

02/28/23... successful interview + oath ceremony in Santa Ana, CA! so proud! certificate of naturalization received! --> Read the review here!

7/2/10- NOA1

2/9/11- NOA2 (transferred to Texas)

NVC

2/28/11- case number received

3/2/11- Paid AOS bill

3/5/11- Paid IV bill

3/12/11- expedite to Bogota consulate approved!!!

3/14/11- left NVC to Bogota for further processing

3/17/11- received by Bogota, emailed consulate and was told to send DS-230 and DS-2100 (packet 3)

3/18/11- packet 3 emailed to Bogota consulate, email confirmation on March 23

3/31/11- Interview date! Approved!!!!!!

Thank you and yes,I do have a friend that has offered to help us.So,would I just have her do it instead of me??Is that going to appear strange to the Visa people??

Thank you,I hope this will be acceptable for the Visa people,we have been through 2 visa processes in 2 years and I have made 3 trips to Nigeria and now I have no assets,no savings..I live paycheck to paycheck:(

no it will not appear strange....if you dont meet the AOS requirements, then you need a co sponsor, plain and simple. It does not matter in their eyes if you can or cant, if you have a co sponsor.

7/2/10- NOA1

You can have your friend act as co-sponsor but you will also need to fill-out an Affidavit of Support form. You would write a letter for the tax years you didn't file stating that you didn't file because you didn't earn enough. It doesn't matter that you were on public assistance in the past. You don't have to mention public assistance in your letter.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thanks for all of the input guys,i really appreciate it.Now, does anyone know if I will have tp pay "2" $88 fees,one for each of the affidavits??
