Hi I filed for my husband and my question is how far back do they look on your filed tax returns?? to see if you can afford your spouse here in america???

I heard something about they only look at the recent tax return now and that they use to go back 3 years

My recent one I earned over 20,030 and the last two was a little over 10,000 so I am nervous about them checking my last 2 years of tax return.

What information do yall know about this do they just check the one year or are they still checking back 3 years

if they go back 3 years will they overlook the last two years and go by my recent tax return or what??

From everything I have read, you would want to include all three years. Several people have gotten an RFE for only including the last years tax transcript. The standard is that your current earnings meet the requirements but I think they are looking for a pattern of steady earning so if you were previously below the limit but now above the limit it shouldn't necessarily be a big deal, especially if you have more than 6 months in your current job.

My next questions is, are they going to ask me to show proof of my employment after recieving my 3 years or 1 year of tax return???

With your AOS you will include three years of returns but the most important will be your last year's income. Proof of employment will be your employment letter that you will include with your AOS packet. RFE is an acronymn for Request For Evidence.
